Tube amp warm up
usually about 45 minutes before everything comes into focus.
Stand out recording regardless of format?
For Muddy Waters, I'd buy the LP. The SACD is very good, but one thing that SACD hasn't solved is the digital edge that you don't get from vinyl.
Another sign SACD is dying
Sony will have SACD with their Playstation 3? (thanks treyhoss) - any of you doom and gloomers care to address that?
How come there is no thread on the RealityCheck?
Ah, I see now. Guess I'll keep my TT and SACD player ;)No disrespect to the inventor of this product. I think he should be commended for coming up with a way to better redbook.
Can i do better for $700 than Grado RS-1?
Newmanoc, From my experience you are right on. It would be more reasonable to get a $300 650. It would allow some money for a cable upgrade also which would help give some more detail to the Senns. I use my Senn 600s with ASL MGhead (black plate t...

So Jaybo what's the outlook for redbook? Sales going up? Or is that dying too, and where's the thread about redbook dying? just wondering.
Just bought a nitty gritty, hear no difference.
RCM's only get rid of pops if it's dirt/dust. If it's pops because it's been played a lot and the grooves are wearing out, nothing can help that out. A RCM is a must and makes a huge improvement, so can't think of why it wouldn't in your case? hmm...
Can i do better for $700 than Grado RS-1?
Newmanoc,I agree that The Senns 580, 600, 650 are what most people consider the best or one of the best headphones. The HD 600 can be had for around $150 on the street, and I actually noticed only minor improvements if that going to the 650.In fac...

Oneprof, But in the end the "clean money" would be worth the same as the dirty money. So is it as good as SACD - vinyl? If so, this should be revolutionary, but so far it's really not. Is it just that people don't know, or is it overhyped?
What is the best sounding HDCD?
Without a doubt (from what I've heard anyway) Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances. It actually won awards for one of the best recordings or something.
Dynavector 17D2MKII vs. XX-2
It partly depends on your tonearm and TT - I have a VPI Scout and use the 17d2, but I wouldn't go any higher in cart. upgrades without upgrading the tonearm/TT. If you never go up to the XX-2 then you will be happy with the 17d2 - something to con...
At Last Bach Really Hits the Spot
Bach is one of those composers that you can listen to over and over and wonder why everyone thinks he's so great. But then it clicks and if you can connect, it's usually gives you an experience that no other composer can give you.Good for you - I ...
Another sign SACD is dying
Jaybo, Yeah that was mentioned in an earlier post, maybe by you. The newer realeases may be from an earlier pipeline, but the SACD recording won't stop coming out next year like you aniticipate (10-18 months)IMHO. So, basically you are saying that...
Questions on Totem Hawks & Von Schweikert VR2
Rumadian, That's funny I would have it the other way around. The VR2 placement is very picky given that it uses the room and rear ambiance tweater. It all has to come together in the sweet spot at the right time to get the benefit of the VR2. Mayb...
Which iPod?
"I always thought the apple-appeal for the audiophiles was the Losless compression (ALC) which was tested by the likes of Stereophile and confirmed to be the most superior compression available today." - AmalIs this correct? Or can this be done on...
