What are the current useless terms in this "audio world"
"Jaw dropping" and "Black background."
Chicago Transit Authority
The MFSL version, regardless of format, is brilliant.
Nicks or McVie.....
Neither. Although I had a mad crush on Stevie as a teenager.
VAC preamps - too expensive?
It all depends. For me, I believe in the law of diminishing returns. Once you get to a very good level equipment-wise, then improvements tend to be incremental. So, what you spend depends on the equipment you’re replacing, which determines the % o...
Dolby Atmos - is it for Audiophiles?
For me, streaming is a poor substitute for quality, physical media.
Looking for preamp which is good at BOTH single-ended AND balanced output
I’ve got a BAT VK-3i and a VK-33, both of which have single and balanced outputs. They are terrific, high quality preamps and sound great. I think you should be fine with the VK-30SE or the VK-31SE. You really can’t go wrong with BAT gear.
Upscale Audio and Primaluna
@mammothguy54 ... which BAT amp did you buy?
Upscale Audio and Primaluna
I’ve been a customer of Kevin’s since 2001. In all that time, NOT ONCE has he misled me, been rude, or steered me in the wrong direction. Back in the day, Kevin was just starting up and used to answer the phone himself ... we would speak a good de...
Make way for the future....

Why Do So Many Audiophiles Reject Blind Testing Of Audio Components?
Measurements often can be irrelevant because a component or cable that measures great can sound awful, whereas distortion may sound quite pleasing. In the final analysis, all that matters is what you hear and enjoy.
Bring my own preamp to an amp demo?
You need to demo the gear for a few days  in your room with your system.
1973
Boone’s Farm Strawberry Hill, Mateus bottles with candles (girls only), incense, black light posters, fake ID, double album covers for separating seeds, and head shops. Good times!
When did you most enjoy the music?
As much as I dig my current rig, I really enjoyed the music listening on my Marantz receiver, Garrard 301 turntable, and Superscope speakers. A pretty rudimentary set up, I know, but it sounded great, and the blue light from the Marantz in my dark...
Matching components?
Most manufacturers have a "house" sound, so some matching provides more of that. I prefer my amp and preamp to be from the same manufacturer. For other components, mixing and matching is fine.
Remember the Electric Light Orchestra
If you've never heard Wishbone Ash, then give their album "Argus" a spin. Great stuff.
