What is wrong with my system?
B&W with Bryston is a very clinical and harsh combination. I would get a tube preamp (I love BAT), and would sell the B&Ws to get speakers with a soft-dome tweeter. I sold my B&W N804s a few years back, got speakers with a soft-dome tw...
Best tube preamplifier for under $15k
BAT VK-33 ... 6922 based and you can tube roll to your heart's desire. Wonderful sound, built like a tank, reliable, and won't break the bank.
So damn hard deciding which tube preamp to buy!
Buy a BAT and be happy.
Sonics? All Things Must Pass -50th Anniversary
The vocals are dry, and the album sounds smaller due to an attempt at "de-Spectorization." I don't like the remix at all.
All Things Must Pass 50th Anniversary sets due to be announced tomorrow
I've heard the remix and find there to be a heavy emphasis on bass with the vocals sounding very dry. To me, it appears that Dhani has attempted to "modernize" the sound instead of tastefully improving it. I'll stick with the 2014 remaster as my "...

Can Streamed Music Sound Better than any other source?
As I have gotten older, I have placed a premium on quality versus quantity. To me, streaming doesn't sound particularly good at all, but you get the convenience of access to a large quantity of recorded music, and running a playlist from a tablet....
Upgrade from Cardas Neutral Reference speaker cables
One thing about Golden Reference ... it can be too much of a good thing when using an entire loom (i.e., ICs and Speaker). When I did, I heard a distinct bloat in the mid-bass. So, I removed the ICs and kept the GR speaker cable in the system. The...
Upgrade from Cardas Neutral Reference speaker cables
I used the NR speaker cables for several years and found them to be OK, but thin sounding. Upgraded to Cardas Golden Reference.
Audioquest Fog Lifters
I bought several white, ceramic ramekins at BB&B for $1.99 a piece. Put them upside down and lay the cables on top. Works great, sounds great, and my wallet is happy, too.
Denon DCD-A110 vs Luxman D-03x
@pmm  I think you'll find the Dynamic Range Database very interesting and useful. Go to dr.loudness-war.info
Denon DCD-A110 vs Luxman D-03x
@pmm Yes, I play the hybrids through my current CDP. I'm wondering whether I'm missing much from not listening to the SACD layer, although in reviewing the Dynamic Range Database, it seems that generally the SACD layer is only slightly more resolv...
