Grounded Speaker Cable @cd45123 ... Given my research on this issue and now having spoken to a couple of electricians, I’m gonna pass on the SP14s. I think there is the potential for real problems with this ground wire, and I’m not convinced that there will be any mater...
That Transformational piece of Gear We All Wish For I started out with a BAT VK-3i preamp and then went to a BAT VK-33 a couple of years ago. I pair the VK-33 with a BAT VK-225se power amp, and the sound is simply astonishing. Great air and detail to the music, and built like a tank as well.
Grounded Speaker Cable @tony1954 ... they are not on the website yet. I read about them in a post from a guy on A’Gon and then emailed the company. I use AE SP12s and think they are excellent. However, I am skeptical with respect to this ground wire thing and, after hav...
Grounded Speaker Cable FYI, I spoke about this with a client/friend of mine who is a master electrician. His opinion is that the ground wire could cause some problems depending on the amp, and could result in ground loop hum. Unless there's a massive amount of RF (which...
Grounded Speaker Cable I spoke with Cap. Still not clear on the need for a ground wire on the speaker cable of my amp is grounded already.
Grounded Speaker Cable @ditusa These speaker cables apparently have a ground wire running from the cable itself to a nearby outlet. If the purpose of this is to reduce RF (as with Tannoy), then it may be more useful in a city, where a lot of RF exists typically, instead...
Grounded Speaker Cable Makes me wonder whether the separate ground wire could cause a ground loop hum due to too many grounded items.
Grounded Speaker Cable Audio Envy makes it. It's their SP14, which is the successor to the SP12 that I'm using currently.
Can we create a consensus list of the TONALITY of different amps/preamps/brands? I don’t think that there will ever be a consensus, BUT I’ll play just for sh*ts and giggles. I use a BAT preamp (tube) and power amp (solid state). As to the clock face example, I’d say that they are at about 11:30 (somewhat warmish, but not overl...
Why Preamps Thump on Turn on IMHO, the correct way to avoid thumps is as follows: Power on - source, preamp, power amp. Power down - power amp, preamp, source. The above works well and is completely silent.
Audio envy - dang! @nutty I have the SP12s and really dig them. What would you say the improvement is between the two cables on a percentage basis?
Does Every Track Sound Great on Your System? This is why I think that after you've put together a quality system, it then all comes down to the quality of the recording and its mastering. At this point, I'm buying good stuff, such as Mofi SACDs, AW XRCD24s, BN 85s, and AP SACDs. It makes a w...
Zavfino prima mk2 speaker cables I second the Audio Envy line of cables. Tremendous performers.
The Horror Currently, I’m running a BAT 225se power amp, BAT VK-33 preamp, Denon DCD-A110 CD/SACD player, and Joseph Audio Pulsars (non-graphene). I really dig the sound. A modest, but excellent sounding rig. There are systems better than mine, no doubt. How...
My end game speaks. I find Focal to be very hot at the top end and quite fatiguing. The Magicos I've heard sounded well-balanced from top to bottom. Ultimately, I wound up with Joseph Audio Pulsars. However, if I had to choose between the two speakers at which you're... |
