are any of your friends audiophiles?
Albert, I hope you realize how blessed you are to have a wonderful core group of audiophile friends. I have a feeling you may be an exception to the prevailing trend. When I lived in NJ I had a nice handful of audiophile friends. I also belonged to...
CNET story on my tube based system Audiogon too
Hmmmm... a viable alternative? To what -- forced air gas heating? But all seriousness aside, what does it cost to retube those monsters? I had to ask, so I'm pretty sure I couldn't (or wouldn't want to) spring for that bill. But it's obviously a fi...
HIGH output MC verses High MC???
Less inertia to overcome in the lower mass motor assembly, which yields generally faster transient response and perhaps greater detail. This is also dependent on other limiting factors in your component chain...But the best thing to do is just try...
How Much Is Too Much?
I am likewise over 50 but have a different opinion. I do like my music loud and dynamic at times. It's an essential component of what makes it sound real. The key words being "at times". Other times I enjoy putting on more mellodic and less dynami...
Infinity Kappa 9's sound terrible...HELP
Did you sell the Kappa 8's yet...? I mean, why pull your hair out trying to get the 9s to sound good in your room if you like the Kappa 8s better?
I can't stop listening, the magic is back
Are they on carpet -- so you can see about where they were if you accidentally move them?
System psychology, or just psyched out?
I just want to know how many times one needs to watch those Bose commercials (and read the Bose advertising literature) before he can become convinced that an inexpensive Bose system can compete with and possibly beat a $100k audio system.Audio_ob...
Not Another NuForce thread......
My experience mirrors yours. The NuForce 9SE V2 (after living with the original SE for a year or so) is quite an improvement. It's an incredibly detailed, dynamic, and musical sounding amplifier. The bass goes deeper and is even more solid, and th...
joy killing refridgerator
My refrigerator is pretty noisy too. If it bugs me too much I just unplug it. It seems even louder during the summer months when the room temperature is a bit higher.
Review: Tact Audio Tact 2.2x Preamplifier
Richard, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the TacT gear. You have a very nice system. And I like your style... a sound system for every major room of the house. It makes perfect sense to me. :)
Nuforce v2: has anyone tried them
That sounds like a good plan Stltrains. Yes, from what I'm hearing, it's a no-brainer. The new version definitely beats the original even with the caps cut out, which is the way I was using them.
Nuforce v2: has anyone tried them
Vic,The turn-on/off relays have a minor low-level click to them if that is what you mean -- but it's so low in level that I can't see anyone objecting to it. Since you own the 9SE's already, the upgrade to V2 is highly recommended. Jason at NuForc...
Nuforce v2: has anyone tried them
I've had my 9SE V2's for about a week now. To my ears the V2 has more extended, tighter, and more articulate bass. It has better instrumental focus/clarity from top to bottom. It seems more transparent and detailed than the V1. And the highs are ai...
Vacuum tubed tone control???

I can't find the answer, JMW 9 tone arm cartridge
I think you'd want the weight with lower compliance cartridges. When I owned the Shelter and used it in the Wilson Benesch arm it worked well without the weight.I'd go with a Benz-Micro Ace low output MC cartridge over either of your mentioned can...
