Any Audio Enthusiasts in Tucson?
Hi tzumwalde1,I've met a few audio guys through this post and have made a couple of good friends in the area. But so far, I haven't been able to organize anything resembling an audio club. A lot of the people seem to share the interest, but when i...
Monitor VS Floor Standing Speaker?
I think floorstanders can image just as good as monitors and sometimes better. Having a narrow front baffle to minimize diffraction is helpful. Case in point, the new Silverline Preludes image as good or better than any monitor speakers I've ever ...
After Audio Physic Vigo II's
I have a pair of VMPS RM30 ribbon hybrids in a large room and a pair of the new Silverline Preludes in a smallish room (which is where I had the Virgo II's). I have to say I like both of these speakers better than the Virgo II. The Preludes cost m...
amp/speaker question
Baffled, the Silverline Preludes delve deeper into the bass than the 805N's and are at least 3dB more efficient, from the published specs. This means that your amplifier will use only half the power to drive the speakers to the same volume you get...
amp/speaker question
The new version of the Silverline Prelude speakers should work well in your application. My hunch is that you'll like their sound/performance better than the N805's and you may not even need the Velodyne sub.
Review: Rega Apollo CD Player
Zinfan2, agreed, the Apollo does take quite a while to break in. And I am also getting excellent results using copper interconnects from player to preamp.
Question about power handling
Seadweller, it's hard to believe that someone with your audio experience (and considering all the speakers you've auditioned of late) has no concept of how amplifier power relates to speaker efficiency and acoustic output in decibels (dB's).Here's...
Review: Rega Apollo CD Player
I didn't think the sound of my Apollo was that great when I first got it. But after a couple of months of break in it has improved steadily. Now I can see what all the fuss is about. It offers extremely high bang-for-the-buck. And I noticed no suc...
Does this speaker exist or am I being ridiculous?
Tvad, I've got to agree with your post and I'm glad that you had the chance to audition the new Silverline Preludes. To me, they deliver reference quality sound over most of the audible frequency band at a very low price. But I do have a couple of...
Wife/girlfriend or audio: if you had to chose?
Elizabeth, any way you slice it, you're definitely my kind of woman? Do you cook, because I may be thinking of upgrading...? Send some pics of your gear and maybe we can discuss it...
Wife/girlfriend or audio: if you had to chose?
Audio (15) But my wife enjoys music too, so she would never ask me to make that choice. We have no less than 5 audio systems in our house and a couple were built from my "leftovers". My Christmas present to her this year was new stereo speakers fo...
Any UFC fans out there?
I like it, and yet it disgusts me. Plus, I don't like paying PPV prices when I already feel that Comcast is ripping me off on my regular monthly fees. I think just watching some of the better Kung Fu movies is good entertainment, as Mr. Tennis sug...
watching dvd w subwoofer
Yes, you really need an AV receiver that has 5.1 to 7.1 Dolby surround processing. The preferred method is to use the digital coaxial or optical output on the DVD player into the corresponding digital input on the surround receiver. Then the speak...
Can any player challenge Audio Aero Prestige SE ?
Believe it or not, using a stock Rega Apollo as a transport feeding my Monarchy Audio M24 DAC I get sound pretty darn close to what the real instruments provide. All I know is that my wife and I were listening to some piano music from the other ro...
Do you ever use the balance on your pre amp?
Sure, why not?On the other hand, you could rearrange your room and put the speakers equidistant across a common corner -- or just simply position the quieter speaker an inch or so closer to the listening position. Playing with toe-in, and putting ...
