Are my ears just fooling me?
Never pretended to be worldly with my limited brand experience but I've only known a few speakers that have been satisfying with sax, none of which would I recommend to a student. Too big, too demanding. However, I did notice a pair of Kappa8's fo...
Who is the KING of MONOS?
In that case, count my vote for hanging chad.
Ceiling tiles using rigid fiberglass
Currently open joists? Here's an unusual method, and I admit I've never tried it on a ceiling. Insulate as usual between the joists but be careful that the insulation stays above the bottom of the joists. Another vote for "Safe and Sound", being fa...
Who is the KING of MONOS?
This is another "Which is best..." threads. To be 'king", they have to hurt just to think about either lifting or affording. A king has power, wealth and prestige. Wisdom and sainthood are not prerequisites. The MBL's at 200 lbs and $50,000 each se...

Anyone try stuffing their ports?
One of the funniest things I ever saw... This was about 25 years ago. Started off being silly, rigged up a "recycled", cast iron, claw foot tub, a 2' thick pine table top, C-clamps, and a 18" "subwoofer" for this theater. Hey, that was the budget ...
Are Horn Speakers good or bad or simply a complete joke?
Worked with horns for PA systems and theaters over 20 years ago. Never occurred to me to bring them home. Even back then, tried to sell custom line arrays with rare success (once). Not a typical line array by today's standard as it used a single h...

Kappa 9 vs Martin Logan Quest Z
Have you heard either K9's or K8's or the ML's? There's no comparison. Completely different. Almost opposites. Different amp demands. The K9's are very demanding but so are the ML's, in different ways. Different placement/ listening position. Anyb...
The British Sound
Buconero117, was that the article that contrasted national speaking voice to speaker sound, that they tended to be opposite?I thought it was funny at the time, imagining Chinese speakers that sounded as flat as AM radio, rude Indian speakers and I...
Why no remote controlled discrete resistor volume?

Christmas Tree Echo Control
What kind of tinsel and decorations have the best acoustics? Does Scotch pine sound better?
Does Bi-amping really make a difference in sound?
Passive biamping at a 2200 Hz crossover is just silly.
Monarchy SE-100 MK2 vs used Plinius SA 100 MKiii
Can't speak for the Mk2 but I had original SE-100's and currently Plinius SA-100 mkIII. The Monarchy had nowhere near the bass and power with some speaker combinations but, apparently, that's been improved for the Mk2. Still, you're comparing 52lb...
