Amp output is wired in series vs parallel?
On the SST, parallel operation is a factory option, not a switch like the earlier versions. Should be an easy mod.
Amp output is wired in series vs parallel?
Ya, definitely oversimplified that at 8:00 AM. Can't deal with current limiting till after the second cup. Thanks Al, for being more precise.Bryston does use a 1.5 ohm resistor on the parallel 7B's. Not sure about the 28B's. Seen jumper wires for ...
Amp output is wired in series vs parallel?
Series: Same current, up to 4X voltage (often factory derated to handle stress from low impedance loads, ie. lower voltage rails- Aragon Palladiums). True bridged/differential.Parallel: 2X current, same voltage. To keep sides from conflict, a 1 to...
Monoblocks and Marchand
500MB: 1.4 V sensitivity, 27 dB gain120S: 1.24 V, 28 dBRelative to full output.
Monoblocks and Marchand
You have 4 monoblocks? Even if that's so, doubt it would work the way you expect.
pass labs xa100.5 or pilinius sa 103
Would miss the front switches of the Plinius, especially in the summer. Also has more gain so volume knob will be higher with the Pass.
How do designers fare when they change companies?
I would say John Ulrick, formerly from Infinity, is doing well with Spectron.Too much cult of personality in "high-end" anyhow. Don't look behind the curtain at some of the real creative stuff in pro audio and parts manufacturers.
solid state vs tubes
I was going to tell an inside story about the Manley TNT when this thread started as a another tube/SS debate but that was not the OP's intent. Not supposed to know that anyhow.Don't know if the tube amps I've known have been rolled off on upper f...
Bi-amp at 140 watt each, or single 200 watt?
Bi-amping is NOT additive. It's the same power to different drivers.A single stereo amp will be a better value (without overdue attention to nearly meaningless power ratings) at the same price, or probably much less, than two bi-amped. This coming...
AUDIO 'TWINS'
Klipsch bought API in '06 - Energy, Mirage and AthenaKlipsch sold Aragon/Acurus to Indy Audio in '09 after less than a decade since aquiring Mondial.Lenbrook owns PSB and NADParadigm (which I thought was part of API)/AnthemLuxman regained it's fre...
Help power pair of Infinity Kappa 9's please
Nobody has mentioned ...http://www.zeroimpedance.com/or maybe just something like these, in series ...http://www.galco.com/scripts/cgiip.exe/wa/wcat/itemdtl.r?listtype=Catalog&pnum=L100J2R0-OHM#Don't give up so easily. There's always a solutio...
Help power pair of Infinity Kappa 9's please
http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstran&1288188965&/Aragon-4004-MKll-solid-state-sOld but Palladiums not listed right now. No relation. What the manual doesn't mention is the below 1 ohm minimum impedance @ 90 Hz and severe phase a...
Sealing ported enclosure to reduce boom
Acquaintance of mine tried the sock in the port thing in brand new speakers. Blew out when he cranked it up. Well, that became a game of how far the sock could fly. Two weeks later, the speakers went in for warranty repairs. Just an anecdote.
Anything better than 10 guage Romex?
Can it, legally, be called a "power cord" or "extension" if it has the IEC connection on the end?
Anything better than 10 guage Romex?
Some have used Belden 83803. 12 ga, tinned, shielded, teflon insulated plenum wire. Not solid core and stiff. Parts Express.
