Beware of Sony and Rootkits
Holy %&*#Need a second source before I start boycott on Sony. No, wait, I already have.
bi-amp question
If you're talking about the surround channels on a HT amp... Bad, bad idea. Stick your nose in the woofer.
Anyone used 240V-120V step down transformers?

With all your knowlege you have gained over time,
I would suggest to anyone starting to decide what you would be willing to compromise. If you're not willing to sacrifice bass, then chances are you will be going down the SS/big speaker road and the first choice will be speakers. If you prefer mid...
Biamp Low frequecy amp recommend
Other suggestions are good and I would also add Aragons. It's might not be as easy as you think to plug in a different amp as you might think. There have been discussions on biamping before that should be browsed.
Biamping question
20 to 25 cm at nearly the speed of light would not make a perceivable difference. Silver is usually preferable for the highs but it's all a matter of taste and component matching. If the system seems bright, try the copper for the highs. The same ...
Biamping question
As long as you're not mixing XLR and RCA, there should be no problem.

Haven't heard the Sonic Euphoria but Bent Audio has ceased production of the NOH in order to develop a fancier remote controlled TVC. He likes creating more than producing. If you're up for some soldering, any TVC can be converted into an autoforme...
Sleeper preamps: $500 new/used
Mission 776Listened to a lot of pre's, tube and SS, that cost as much as $6000 new and haven't found a better one yet.
Where to start with room treatments?
Get a futon pad do the old trial and error method. Works for mids/highs/imaging but not bass. Easy way to check for bass resonance is walk around the room, listening for weak and strong points.
Looking for views on bi-amping
It's simple to passively biamp with different brands. At least, it's simple after the mistakes. On the highest gain amp, add an attenuator (up to 5 KOhm will usually suffice). The pots I tried tended to sound bloated at the crossover point and alw...
Can OTL's drive ribbons well?
Genesis ribbons are fairly stable 4 ohm loads with a bit of trouble in the 85 to 200 Hz area that is taken care of by the crossover. OTL's might not be the best choice because they are designed for 8 to 16 ohms, usually. Some of the bigger Atma-sp...
