Are audiophile speakers turn on for single women? Only until they try to coexist. In which case she's not single anymore. Then, they're ugly. Of course, when she's becomes single again, they're a valuable asset. Kidding.

Plinius SA250 MK IV upgrades? + SA Ref comparison? The rumour is that Plinius lowered the treble down a bit for the SA-102 and 250 MkIV versions because that's the way they interpreted customer demand. For the 103 and SA-Ref, it's back up. Again, just a rumour, read from a review.Don't know of any...
Which attributes do you value most? Natural. Don't really know what that means but I've spent a lifetime training my ears to hear it.
Does my Pass amp dislike my Meridian preamp? Sorry, term I meant was PIC (programmable interface controller).
Does my Pass amp dislike my Meridian preamp? My first guess would be a PLC (programmable logic controller). Could be socket mounted but more likely replacing a board. Can be intermittent and difficult to track down.

Solid State Power Amps That Sound Most Like Tubes? I've known SS amps that have been rolled off on the bottom, a few on the top. Heard some that were bloomy and some that tried to be euphonic. None of these are particularly characteristic of all tube designs. What character does he want?

Granted, the Thiels are a fairly tough load but gotta think that something is wrong with the amp. Perhaps, the bias has drifted and needs to be adjusted. Is...
Is it ok to Bi-amp using different Brand/model of Looks like you're getting covered technically. I can add is the quality of the level controls affects the amount of fiddling. When I first tried biamping with pots to control the more sensitive amp, I was constantly going back and forth. Upgraded ...
is a step up/down electric transformer bad ? I use isolation or center-tapped (balanced), step-down transformers on almost all my gear, all rated for 115V, including sources and 2 class A monoblocks. The exception being a dedicated, class AB, bass amp. The current swings for the latter 4X400...
Can volume/selector pots be switched out of a pre? Would suggest replacing a pot with a good attenuator, if practical. I had to do a custom DIY because of the values but that's a lot of work. Goldpoint, Marchand, and DACT have a lot more options since back then.Nowadays, would be more inclined to ...
Negative Feedback a deal killer? "Or should one just listen and shut up"Wisdom defined.
best vintage 70s, 80s amp? One of my favorites from back then is the Mission 776/777 combo. No detail by modern standards but punchy as Cassius Clay (time appropriate). Combined with Altecs or Klipsch horns, it could hurt you. Ahead of it's time in many ways. First battery ... |
