Where do I go from here? What happened to wanting to keep the system simple and to just having it sounding good and looking good ? I have heard that thousands of times before, and many have tried that....but that audiophile / music listening thang, never stops......Enjoy...
Input impedance of my preamp The heading of you post indicates impedance, but your description talks about gain. XLR 2 will be louder at the same volume setting, because the dac has a greater amount of output voltage than the phono preamp. If you used the dac on xlr 1 and the...
Bose 901 Series V Questions Say what you want.....properly positioned ( hung from the ceiling ) with an acoustically dead and flat wall behind them, using the supplied eq ( with top notch ics ) and a monstrous amplifier ( I used a tweaked AMPZILLA ).....they were FUN ! You c...
klipsch cornwall iv upgraded crossovers larryi, hearing the inside of the horn is a different matter entirely than what I am talking about. My favorite speakers are horns, but a too large of a horn, based on my listening position, will often lead to " hearing inside the horn ", which is...

Help me spend $100,000 on a new system As a retired audio consultant, and have spent lots of people’s money, I am with the statement by ronres which is, only you can know what " sound ", what " characteristics " of recorded music, you are looking for. Plus, especially with that much mo...

klipsch cornwall iv upgraded crossovers I find non damped horns unlistenable, particularly the metal / aluminum/ plastic type. Most wooden horns I have heard, do not have these issues. Been damping for 55 years, and there is " a sound " to the ringing / vibration to most horns. My cli...
klipsch cornwall iv upgraded crossovers @atlvalet Check out on YT " The Boston Audiophile ", Klipsch CW IV upgrade. My best, MrD.
Passive preamps - differences between technologies OP, the 300K is the input impedance. The input sensitivity of the amp is 2V for rated output, and the V gain is 24db, a little less than the norm of 26-28 db. Just a friendly fyi. My best, and ENJOY ! MrD.
Is my amp good enough? One or two folks here mentioned the room acoustics and listener / speaker positioning. Do you have that nailed down ? Using your current speakers, get that dialed in, and go from there. IME, this should come 1st, if you already have a decent syste...
Passive preamps - differences between technologies The Luminous Audio has the shortest signal path of them all. Just saying. Enjoy, MrD.
Anyone has a reference system where amplification is SS ? Well, except for inna, where he/she does specify a right and wrong, and us ss folks have it all wrong. So laughable...
Reviews on JungSon amp/preamp combo: JA-1/JA-99C Addendum : imo, as far as the preamp is concerned, the amp is the star of the show. |
