How Long Should a First Watt SIT3 Last ?
Unless the transformers are bad, everything else is likely an easy and reasonable fix. I am not stating you should invest money and time into them, as that is up to you....However, I went the solid state route years ago, and have never looked back...
Selling, donating or giving away a good pair of vintage speakers
If I was in driving distance to you, I would surely take them off your hands. I would rebuild the crossovers, eliminate the toggle switches and find use for them in a 2nd, or 3rd system. Beautiful cabinetry. I lived with a pair for a while (on loa...
A stupid question(s) about power cords
Of course, recordings such as Bill Frisell’s East West, which is all live tracks, might not need that synchronization, but it is apparent that eq and other studio things were still incorporated .....but, the musicianship....is GREAT. BTW, normally...
A stupid question(s) about power cords
No doubt many of us have ears/brains and systems that allow us to hear these changes/differences. I cannot even go as far as saying improvements, because this is dependent on each of us individually. But, folks like crf, who claims to hear no diff...
A stupid question(s) about power cords
@classicrockfan , Matt is breaking in some Amazon 10 gauge power cables I had recommended to him (x3, for cd player, preamp and amp). I generally respect engineers, but not when they say power cables do not make a difference, over the cheap includ...
Cornwall IV vs. Volti Rival, Razz; Razz v. 1, 2, 3 -- what changed?
A stacked pair of tweaked/modified CWIV. Invert the top pair, as we used to do with Lg Advents, AR, Heresy, JBLs. etc. Under your budget. What a presentation !
A stupid question(s) about power cords
Finished my mods on an amplifier a week ago and have since been letting it sing along with my system, 24 /7 (an advantage of solid state gear, and having a private, dedicated listening room). I played the Medeski Martin and Wood cd "friday afterno...
A stupid question(s) about power cords
" I did enjoy his voice "when I realized" that it was not the result of a poor source cd but was the result of the abuse that his vocal cords were probably taking ". " I enjoyed it "when it hit me" that that was his real voice at the time. Not rea...
A stupid question(s) about power cords
People are not understanding, Matt purchased some very well made and excellent sq for the money, 10 gauge power cables by Preffair, on my recommendation. He wanted to jump in and get his feet wet with better cables than stock, at an INTRO price. W...
A stupid question(s) about power cords
Matt, I did not offer anything, except an opinion or two with my many years of experience, and I apologize if I was not gentle in my presentation. I momentarily became a teacher, and no one enjoys being a student, especially us audio folks. Gettin...

A stupid question(s) about power cords
Listen, to the " musicianship " and the " composition ". Everything else will follow. Why are listeners so involved in the acoustics of the performance, rather than the performance itself. Once an instrument or voice enters a mic or a mixing conso...
Cornwall IV vs. Volti Rival, Razz; Razz v. 1, 2, 3 -- what changed?
For over 50 years I have been damping horns, of all speakers using them. They did not have Dynamat back then, but there were materials that we used that did the job, such as clay, mortite etc. Mortite is still an excellent damper of resonance and ...
What are the circular discs people use on components?
@fthompson251 those are them !
Push-pull Tube Amps and autoformers
@audiodidact with your particular tube amplifiers you do not need the Speltz Zeros, as I am surprised Ralph is saying it is ok. They were created for OTL amplifiers. If I am understanding you correctly, I agree with audiotroy. Get a robust and bee...
