What are the best speakers for 80's hard rock?
Atmasphere........I am with you......all the way !
What are the best speakers for 80's hard rock?
In my experience, I have found, listeners who primarily listen to rock, tend to " turn it up ", more so than other listeners. Whether better or not, a pair of large Cerwin Vegas ( the better ones ), will play louder, with less compression, than a ...
Klipsch Heresy iii paired with Vintage Marantz integrated amp?
Not commenting yet on the question, but, cds are digital, fyi.
LaScalla "horn" sound compared to "maggie" sound
Listened to the Santana and Abraxas cds, as well as LZep IV, during the last 48 hrs, and all I can say is, very enjoyable.
Is It Safe to Warm Up Power Amps Without Speakers Attached
Hooking up speaker cables to the amp would not be a problem if the cables are not shorted. However, what about the inputs of the amp that is warming up ? The amp should be shut down, caps discharged before plugging into the inputs.
LaScalla "horn" sound compared to "maggie" sound
I wanted to add one more thing. I am not a head banger, any more at least, and at moderate, or even lower volumes, dynamics, both micro, as well as macro, are 2nd to none. A virtue of horns. MrD.
LaScalla "horn" sound compared to "maggie" sound
My 2 cents. I am on my 3rd pair of Lascalas, and have owned most panel type speakers, as well as many box speakers. Klipsch heritage can sound nasty, or sound excellent. Crossover mods ( and type ), horn and cabinet damping, associated equipment, ...
B&W 801 S2 Fatigue VS. 802 S2 No Fatigue?
Stereo5, the B&W 801s are not bright, but very revealing, unless the crossovers are aged. I do not think it is the room, because the 802s would have, also, sounded bright.
Klipsch Heresy IIL's-Opinions?
Why not purchase a pair of used Heresy 1s or 2s for cheap, and see how it goes. If you do not like them, you might break even in the resell. Or you can jump on the modify bandwagon, and improve on them. I am a huge Heritage fan, owning many in my ...
B&W 801 S2 Fatigue VS. 802 S2 No Fatigue?
Shadorne is correct. I would like to add, however, that your Yamaha, and Threshold, are on the bright and analytical side. The 801s will reveal that more. I would change out the Yamaha for something warmer, and see how it goes. I do not think "tim...
Latest Absolute Sound
Audiogon, and the High End in general, would not be where it is today, if not for magazines such as TAS and Stereophile. Let us not forget those fortunate enough (I am not one) to afford these pieces of high priced gear. Don't like it, don't read ...
Free $3K preamp to lucky listener who names it
I had, as 1 of my submissions, The Beckert Labs PRAT ( for Pace, Rhythm, Attack and Timing. Oh well. Credit should be given though, as it was a wonderful marketing tool. Congrats to the winner. MrD.
Bose 901's with "highend ancillaries"??
I agree with the review by Jeff Dorgay. I also agree with the statement by Schubert. I sold them, I have installed many a pair of 901s throughout the years, and, I have owned them. I always suspended them from the ceiling (taking them to another l...
CJ PV-2ar or PV-7 or ARC SP-6 for Klipsch Heresy?
As I have mentioned in other threads, dampening the mid horns, and tweets, as well as the inner front panel of the Heresy, makes them a much better music reproducer, especially at higher listening levels. It is the most bang for the buck "mod" one...
Designer Hall of Fame
Surprised, that only 2 mentions, of Stewart Hegeman appeared. He truly pioneered many things, such as wide bandwidth in amplifiers, minimal negative feedback in amplifiers, and, many speaker designs, just to name a few. He was brilliant, with both...
