Suddenly...one third of my tracks are 'unavailable' using Qobuz
@bondmanp  -- I've been extremely pleased with Qobuz over the past two years. I also have a local library with a lot of obscure stuff, but then I've never expected my collection to be replaced by a streaming service.  However, I find the following...
Quality of construction on some speakers- namely Harbeth
There are some audio manufacturers out there that have strong opinions about various issues that run contrary to popular audiophile received wisdom. This may involve design decisions, component choices and so on. Alan Shaw is one of those contrari...
Are the new Ohm Walsh speakers Audiophile quality?
Congrats on your 2000s! I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy my Ohms.   One thing to remember about power is that the relationship between acoustic volume in a room and amp power is logarithmic. Every 3 dB increase in volume requires double th...
Schiit Urd CD Transport vs Marantz CD6007 Player
Seems a tough question to answer since the Urd is not yet available -- nothing shows on Schiit's web site.
Suddenly...one third of my tracks are 'unavailable' using Qobuz
I've had a couple of situations where the album initially seemed to disappear from Qobuz only to find my original link had changed. The album was still there, but just not accessible with my old link in Favorites or a Playlist. A new search turned...
High Gain?
Here's an example of the OP's situation. I bought a Schiit Aegir power amp which doesn't have a lot of gain on its own. I originally purchased a Schiit Saga+ preamp to go with it, which uses a tube buffer in a unity gain circuit -- it adds no addi...
How loud are you typically listening?
I typically use C scale, which is a flatter measurement. The A scale cuts both low and high frequencies to simulate the human ear's sensitivity at low to moderate levels.  The A reading is only flat from about 500 Hz to 6 KHz. As such, the A scale...
How loud are you typically listening?
80 to 85 dB is very loud for me if I’m listening to rock/pop. Most other acoustic material is 5 to 10 dB lower than this. Like some of the other posters, I have an old school analog dB meter.
My new VTV Audio Class D amp arrived today
I had a VTV Hypex nCore amp and thought its construction was good and neatly done. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his gear if one is in the market for a good class D amp at a very reasonable price.
Bluesound Node2i and wifi frustrations: Mesh!
"...why do when you can overdo?" Audio is a great example of a common human tendency to think that if this much is good, then more must be better. Sometimes that works, most often it makes no difference (other than to spend more money), and someti...
Bluesound Node2i and wifi frustrations: Mesh!
Have you considered using powerline network adaptors? They run ethernet over your house wiring which allows you to put the adaptor outside of the stereo cabinet and then run a CAT cable from it to the Node 2i. Your streamer will think it is hardwi...
Options for integrateds for Ohm Walsh Tall 2000s?
For an integrated amp, I'd throw a Schiit Ragnarok into the mix. $1,500 new without the phono and DAC modules, or $1,800 with.  It has 60 watts a channel at 8 ohms and 100 at 4. It is a class A/B amp. If the power level sounds low compared to some...
Schitt Saga tube buffer preamplifier gain?
If you want a preamp that uses the 6SN7 preamp tube, check out the Schiit Lyr 3.  It offers 2 gain settings, both are higher than unity. The low setting has 3.5 dB gain and the high 17.5 dB.  I had a Saga+ for a couple of months and discovered tha...
Schiit - shipments stopped?
Before I wrote my prior reply, I carefully looked at Schiit's web site and reviewed their owners manual for ANY mention of using the Freya as a HT bypass preamp. I found nothing.  I, too, would like to see screen shots of the emails from Schiit "m...
The Exogal saga continued....
Sounds like you've been screwed. The only recommendation I have is don't let it ruin your life -- letting resentments run your life day after day is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.
