Recs for Tubes & tweaks for HH Scott separates
NOS 12AX7s are getting rare and expensive.  If you don't mind rubbed off labels and such, you might avail yourself to Audiotubes.net (no affiliation) . He calls them ugly but the prices are very fair.  If buying new consider the Gold lion or the m...
Speaker recommendation for married couple
You realy do have to ask your wife if she can tell you why she liked the VAs and KEFs.  The let her pick from whatever else you may audition. Then  change your system around if necessary to achieve the sonic you actually want.
Ever Bought an Audio Product that was Stupid Good for the Money?
Dr. Jerry you and I have much in common, but not the gear.  The Stupid good for the money is my favorite pre the AE-3 by AES a sub brand of Cary .  Cost me $350 used.  I have tubes (each) that cost close to that I put in it.
How do tube manufacturers like VAC get 55 watts per KT88 where others get only 30-35?
My Jadis DA-60 gets only 60 watts out of 4 KT -88s per side, in case your counting that's 15 per tube.  In  class A, push parallel  pull pairs, if I recall correctly. They could be understating the true output in addition you can use different out...
Infinity IRS Betas
They need room and a lot of good power. I wanted them some years back but didn’t have the means or the right amps for them. They were about $6K then, now 8 to 12,  those are  optimistic sellers.
Is Anything Really "Future-Proof"?
NoYou can't know what you don't know.
Tekton Impact
Read the review they seem to be incredible.    The only thing I may not be able to deal with is the 4 ohm avg.  resistance and how difficult the load gets even for use with fairly powerful tube amps. I doubt, but wonder if they can do something as...
Tube Preamp Recommendations?
@Robert1234,  I think the ARC SP6B came with Telefunken 12AX7s as original equipment.  They have a reputation for being for  clean, cool and crisp sounding tubes.  I can concur from my own experience with them. Telefunkens were frequently matched ...
JBL Paragons
Do you know the driver compliment in this particular unit.  They were not all the same.  The critical driver is the huge 375 mid range compression with its large horn.. The others all count of course. The cross  overs are frequently in need of wor...
What amp do you use with your passive pre?
What's your budget? If you have $3+ K to spend I highly recommend  Opera-Consonance Cyber 800 tube mono blocs deliver about 80watts per channel. That is the discount new price.  Not too many used around.

CDP Repair or Replace? Seeking advice Please
If you need a CD player , replace the one you have.  They wear out having moving parts.  A very very costly one well that would be a different story, it comes down to wear you draw the line.
Crosley Record Cleaning System
I started with a Nitty Gritty but the turn table broke and I traded away the vacuum and what was left of the motor to as guy that mods gear for me.  I then got the standard VPI 16.5 I think or 16.0- anyway it works fine.  What I find to be key, is...
Sound of AVR vs. separates
If you have the space and the money I would recommend you try a separates system for music alone.  Keep your video gear for movies etc. apart from your music system.Separates are the best way to achieve the best sound quality but it is anything bu...
