Tube recommendations You're welcome. Are you certain I can't introduce you to some o return used up crap from the last Shmegeggy, I bought them from. Seriously, I have a major surgery coming up but in 10.5 weeks I'll be back, and for the first time seriously consider ...
Tube recommendations Thank you for the kind words. The price of Brimar tubes has generally been lower than the Mullard equivalent. To be perfectly honest I haven't bought a Brimar Trustee 6060 in many years. I would guess that because of their scarcity that it wi...
120v to 240v Adapter to power Amp in USA I do believe that you can get an outlet in your home for 240 volt. My dryer and other large appliances were plugged into them. I don't know if that is the same outlet needed for your amp.
Tube recommendations I am a tube roller myself . I just got an old Antique Sound Labs 845 SET integrated with multiple 6SN7s and a 6L6GC or KT-66. I rolled all of the except the power tubes (845s) but I am seriously looking at replacing them. I know my tubes prett...
Recommendations for a few high SQ classical CDs There is another symphony by Copland you must hear which is "Appalachian Spring" Bernstien and the New York Symphony orchestra. I have also have Copland conducting himself as well. Both are very good. I can also recommend an audiophile Sampler ...
Tube pre amp Ask Ralph Karsten how much he is asking for one of the several versions of his Atmasphere UV-1 preamp. It too uses 6SN7s and can be configured to your needs. NOS ans ANOS 6SN7s in good condition are still available by the millions or so it seem...
Stands, to couple, or not to couple, contradicting products and positive reviews You want to couple the vibration to the floor to dampen that energy and keep the box still. Use heavy points and even some moveable weight discs to aid you in that process. I don't know if this guy is still making custom brass fixtures like very ...
Autoformer vs Speaker impedance Curve You may want to ask McIntosh or a big McIntosh dealer like Audio Classics about the function of their autoformers.
Is APower Conditioner For A Mostly Vintage System Worth Getting? You might want to look into the Furman line of power strip /surge protectors/distributors etc. Some are rather nice looking with built in voltmeters and many other features. They are widely distributed. I'm looking at a couple of models myself.
I need one for every room...and two for the garage! It's just sad to see something so ridiculous being offered. It is an insult to our hobby that their are people out there that want to hustle that kind of ridiculous over the top nonsense. Frankly I wouldn't even permit that on our site as a court...
klipsch speakers,be honest Well, they do need to be managed in the very least. I would guess that some of the success of the guys who make improved crossovers is warrranted. A couple of these modders have gone on to develop a better "Klipsch" altogether. I own 2 pair of ...
The Legendary ? Infinity IRS V I don't think so Joe. I just bought an older Leyla ASL amp with 845s over this last weekend as a remarkable coincidence. It is a single tube per side (22 watts). I will have to find an appropriate speaker to use with it, but it was hearing those...
The Legendary ? Infinity IRS V I just came across this. I too had the good fortune to listen to Bill's IRS V's. They were among the best speakers I have ever heard. Yes he told me of the mods and his own crossover. I cant recall whether is was the whole winged Emim and Emi...
6sn7 tubes for Atma Sphere amp 1Kitch, this may be obvious but Ralph knows anything you want to know about his amps. In terms of reviving the thread there isn't a great deal more to add than what was already known about tubes from earlier eras. The RCA and later Sylvania tube...
Integrated amp + dac for Focal As an owner of Focal speakers I can attest to their tendency towards the analytic and bright sound. It took me some time to discover that I needed tube power amps for them to live up to their potential. I don't know which integrated to recommend... |
