Manley stingray and tannoy
Maggies are not the awful load some imply.flat impedance and moderate phase angles make them tube friendly. I'd look for the same with the Tannoys to determine if it'd be at least a good electrical match.
Magnepan MMG for low volume
In a VERY quiet space Maggies have plenty of detail at low levels. And I mean pin-drop quiet. So quiet that with the front door open, a cricket in the hedge outside is pretty loud. Not as much bass, perhaps, as you'd like, but don't forget the ear...
Best budget $300 Balanced IC Recommendation
Save your $$$ and try some Mogami....available at Guitar Center.I use the 'Gold' in 6' length. Terrific cable. This is from the Microphone line.....PS:: I have the CA 840c.......good match.
New Apple TV -- Anyone planning on it?
How good is the clocking on the AppleTV?The Airport Express is miserable and the DAC section of my CA840c simply doesn't like it and will periodically lose lock.
This is no joke.
now you know why the cat ran away. What's this brain surgeon gonna' do to her kids? What a goofball.
solid state vs tubes
So many possible responses.Isn't it true that when connecting to the various taps on a transformer that you are using more or fewer windings? Won't that change sound more than the load variations to a SS amp? I like the talk of sensitivity and eff...
This is no joke.
Map?Who would you rather be mad at you? 1. Wife2. Forum posters.thought so!Everybody should realize that NoBody is going to change humor type or sensitivity based on getting some forum flack. It'll just breed ill-will when somebody gets raked for ...
Inexpensive sub for MG12's
The HSU VTF2mkIII has a crossover adjustable to 30hz. I cross over my 1.6s no higher than 40hz without bloat or boom. W/shipping and tax, just over your budget, though, new. If you live in SoCal, like I do, you can get a discount and SKIP the ship...
solid state vs tubes
The devices made by IR are 100% not symmetrical MOSFETs. The gate and source are on the top of the device, while the drain is the bottom of the wafer, which, while I can't discuss fabrication details, has an ohmic contact with the package. So, gate...
solid state vs tubes
I'm not a probe guy. i spent about 30 years making both ICs and discrete.I am most familiar with probe parametrics as they apply to my area of specialty. As for probers, I know they weren't HP. The last ones I remember were some kind of european 4...

http://www.irf.com/technical-info/appnotes/mosfet.pdfCapacitive turnon / turnoff delay.....that seems to be the issue.....However, In a device with VERY thin gate ox......How much capactance are we actually talking about? I never even heard the te...
solid state vs tubes
Atmo::When I have a mosfet device under test, what parameter am I looking for? Under what conditions will I be able to measure this parameter? The 'capacitive' element of a mosfet would be 2 conductors, separated by an insulator. Now, the drain, s...
Signal Cable Spade Question
uhhhh.Call / ask Mac? At the very least, Mac can cough up some dimensions to ease your search.
Cleaning contacts, What first?
Gregadd::Did you mean 'At last' ! or Alas?
This is no joke.
I'm on lots of lists.Take a number.I have poor impulse control, too!
