Platter mat insanity
Sleepwalker, Please tell me how a platter mat can affect wow and flutter.  Maybe there would be an effect on measurable rumble, depending upon where and how you measure it, but I am straining to understand your comment on wow and flutter.  Also, I...
Can you run the HANA SL MC at 100 ohms?
The 100-ohm load will not sound "bad" with these cartridges, either the SL or the EL, but the SQ will be colored to a degree by the effect of the load resistance on the HF response and on total gain. It’s OK to like it that way. Lots of guys load ...
Zerostat Milty really?
I’ve got the 3-inch wide version of that brush, which contains polonium, I think. It works.
Colibri or Hummingbird?
See my post of 10/08 at 9:31 PM.  That says how to replace the RCAs with XLRs, assuming the Reed is wired to treat the cartridge as a balanced device.  Simple.
Can you run the HANA SL MC at 100 ohms?
As mulveling says, you will lose some output signal voltage at 100 ohms load, but also you will lose some extreme high frequency response.  The cartridge may sound a bit dull and rolled off with that load and a source impedance of 30 ohms, besides...

What is the internal resistance or source impedance of the Hana SL?
Zerostat Milty really?
Slaw, For what it's worth, my admonition to the OP that he should be sure he is using his Zerostat correctly should not be construed as a negative post.  Even if he did read the manufacturer's instructions, we all make errors in interpreting the w...
Sweetvinyl Sugarcube - SC1 and SC2
It also makes cakes without icing?  I will wait for the frosting update. (Very sorry; couldn't resist the opportunity for levity.)  No one who has tried out the product(s) has had a bad word to say, so far as I recall.
Sweetvinyl Sugarcube - SC1 and SC2
What made you purchase both the SC1 and the SC2? I was under the impression that one of those two is like the other except for being deficient in some of its capabilities.
Upcoming Technics SP-10R (100th Anniversary Model)
I confess that I was biased against the GP Monaco because of its carbon fiber chassis.  In general, I have not liked carbon fiber as used in vinyl reproduction.  Also, the Monaco was deliberately low in mass; I have another bias in favor of high m...
Best MM?
The correct answer is always "something else", no matter what.  Chakster got it right.
Zerostat Milty really?
Do you know how to use the Xerostat?  If you are not using it correctly, it won't work at all.  There are detailed descriptions of its proper use in these archives or on Vinyl Asylum, or elsewhere on the internet.  It would be a good idea to read ...
SAT 30K+$$ TONEARM: W O R T H T O H A V E I T ?
daveyf, Sorry.  I did think your +1 was tinged with sarcasm.  At the time, you and Raul were engaged in a back and forth that I wanted no part of.  Anyway, my bad.I'm kind of surprised, not to say "shocked; shocked I tell you", that apparently mos...
Upcoming Technics SP-10R (100th Anniversary Model)
So why did he sell the Monaco?  (Presumably you refer to the Grand Prix Monaco, a turntable we once thought was "expensive" at $20,000 or so.)
Phono cable advice.
I think Atmasphere would agree that in certain environments, like in the middle of any big city, near power lines or large electric devices, it would make sense to use shielded phono cables.  Also, if you don't or can't carefully route your phono ...
