SME release new Garrard 301
THAT tonearm and THAT plinth? It looks like a replica of the original, rather than an upgrade from it.  Unlike what Technics did with the SP1000R.
Plinth ideas for DENON PD-80 DD turntable
Mine is in a 2-inch thick piece of slate that I sourced from Pennsylvania in the US. Mine came in a DK300 plinth with a DA301 tonearm, not the 401. I think I have the pdf file needed to program a water jet for creating the hole and the 3 screw bol...
First Turntable - Direct drive or Belt drive?
What is a Technics SL1015? I am not familiar with that model. Or did you mean to say “SL1500”? If so, I would have thought you could buy one for less than $1K.The OP owns a multi thousand dollar CDP and some other fine equipment as well, so I thin...

I just Googled.  There is a whole Wiki article on this subject.  Seems the damage is manifested at the hair cells in otherwise young healthy persons.
Ultrasonic cleaning with kirmuss and loss of high frequency details.
Terry, "105db" at what frequencies?  This issue of hearing damage from US RCMs makes me realize that I am not sure what part of the physiologic chain that results in "hearing" is damaged by prolonged exposure to high SPL in the audible range.  Cou...
First Turntable - Direct drive or Belt drive?
My point was that since you already own an Ayre line stage, which is inherently a balanced circuit, you may as well also acquire a balanced phono stage. I say this also because most people with experience suggest that the Ayre products sound best ...
First Turntable - Direct drive or Belt drive?
Yep.  Good old R0817 has apparently taken a powder.  I'll miss his wit.
First Turntable - Direct drive or Belt drive?
Melm, the man already has good digital. Take a look at his equipment list. Also, the man has some money. The obvious fit for a phono stage is the Ayre P5Xe, which is a balanced circuit to go with the Ayre linestage. In which case it makes sense to ...
Ultrasonic cleaning with kirmuss and loss of high frequency details.
It might be subtly irritating to be around the US machine when it is in operation (via bone conduction and other ways we sense ultra high frequencies), but can your hearing be damaged by frequencies that are so far above the range of audibility?  ...
First Turntable - Direct drive or Belt drive?
Omigod!  Too many questions. To buy LPs in volume in order to start a collection, and unless you are very well off financially, I suggest you need to find a reliable source of used LPs.  Best to buy direct from a dealer; don't buy off eBay. Fortuna...
Ultrasonic cleaning with kirmuss and loss of high frequency details.
There is a sort of "scientific" way to ask this question, if you have an oscilloscope or a very high quality AC voltmeter and the requisite test LP.  Play some of the pure tone high frequency bands on the test LP, record the amplitude of the AC vo...
Sussurro MkII and surface noise?
Ditto for me with my Grace Ruby re-tip, using the OCL stylus.  When it's good, it's very very good.  Etc.
Sussurro MkII and surface noise?
If you ever do consult Peter Ledermann regarding your issue with the Sussuro please let us know what he says. He was very helpful to me when I had an issue with a Grace Ruby re-tip. And no one knows the sussuro better than he.
Sussurro MkII and surface noise?
Except setting azimuth with a mirror and any setting of anti-skate are inexact. Anyway VTA is where it’s at for this issue. Also I’d talk to Peter Ledermann. He’ll have the best advice.
