The nightmare of the cartridge buyer...
You guys have seen too many James Bond movies.  As against Chakster's experience with 2juki, there are many others who have had good experiences buying from him.  (I purchased a used, vintage tonearm from him, not a cartridge, and I was very pleas...

You would turn them around and connect the secondaries to your AC wall outlet and the primaries to the filter section of a power supply and other words 120 V in and 480 V, or whatever the voltage is, out. You could use that to power some unimagin...

It’s kind of a moot point, because as we both know, the Phoenix engineering stuff is no longer available. However if you really wanted to acquire same you could probably find it. However, the improvements that I notice are an increase in the defi...

Goofy, Your reasoning eludes me.  I assure you that your Thorens is not so speed stable as you would like to think it is now and that you would benefit, or rather your listening experience would benefit, if you were to install a Roadrunner in comb...
Help with some Vintage gear???
I didn’t mean to be a clod.  I have been searching for an OEM MC2000 and the SUT that goes with it, for a long time.  If you would list them for sale somewhere, preferably here on Audiogon, I would be a buyer.  I was hoping for a heads up, althoug...

Why wouldn’t the smartractor be compatible with FR?
FR66s vs Ikeda IT-407 CR tonearms
Dertonearm’s protractors are based on the Dennesen, with many important improvements that permit much more accurate alignment.
The urge to tinker is awash. What TT might better mine and why?
Why is direct drive incompatible with an air bearing? Are you aware of a few of the vintage direct drive turntables that use magnetic levitation so that the vertical bearing is not doing much weight bearing.?

cleeds, What in your opinion are the "very best" belt drives? For me, the very best belt drive turntables cost at least $25,000, new.  Once you get up to that price point and above, you can buy some nice BD machines.  I have less than that tied up...

I apologize to anyone if I sound vitriolic. But one more thing about belt drive aficionados does irk me. That is, they have no problem claiming they can hear the servomechanism of a direct drive turntable hunting, yet most are eager to acquire a ...

Nor can I (imagine a return to BD).Nor do I hear any “veil” coloration or “hunting”, once the plinth is made proper for the device. This is with serviced and calibrated DD tables at quality level DP80 and up. (SP10 Mk3, Kenwood L07D, Victor TT101....

Uber, My only "Denon" experience is with the DP80, the best they made for home use.  Second only to the DP100 and DP308, which are both megabuck items these days.  I would shoot for a DP75 or DP80, if I were you.  The cost is only a few hundred bu...
The nightmare of the cartridge buyer...
I don't recall seeing any Benz cartridges on sale in Tokyo, as of last June.  Or any time before that, either.  But since I wasn't actually looking for a Benz, it could have escaped my notice.
