Ultimate test of bass - Lana del Rey's A&W @jonwolfpell - The Band's first album was 'Music From Big Pink' - 'The Band' with the brown cover was their 2nd album.
Custom Window Sound Blockers John Darko just put up a video about curtains that were supposed to absorb sound and his experience with them....
Ray Charles - "Rap is not music" I like Ray for sure, even though I don't have any of his records, but I don't think there is any musical artist, no matter how brilliant or well-regarded, who will be enjoyed by 100% of all music fans. If somebody doesn't like something, you can't...
What is the VERY BEST CD album you've ever heard? I don't see the need to ram music into categories like whether something is 'rock' or 'pop' - people who don't like it won't see any difference between them and (most) people who like them don't really care what you call it. @tylermunns - 'Mulho...
Favorite genres for fun listening I always listen to music for fun, so my favorite genres are the many sub-genres of rock music and reggae, and I've also got time for various sub-genres of hip-hop/rap and electronic/techno, though I don't listen to those as much.
Passion, or ..... Precision? @kingbr - agree about Steve Harris, and a wonderful songwriter as well. Those early Maiden albums sounded awful on CD when they first came out in the 80's (though I still enjoyed the music), but the redone ones are great! 👍 As for somebody quotin...
un-becoming an audiophile When I was a teenager, I loved listening to music, even though it was often on a hand-held transistor radio. Today I have a 5-figure sound system in both 2-channel and headphone. I could still enjoy a great song on a transistor radio today and it ...
Casual listening Not for me - I'm only playing my gear when I am actively listening to it - I don't keep music in the background for day-to-day activities, just like my TV is never on unless there is something I am particularly watching. That doesn't mean I'm eval...

Passion, or ..... Precision? Doesn't really bother me that much; sound quality doesn't get my 'toes tapping', as it were - music does. My toes did plenty of tapping when I was 16 and listening on a little transistor radio. I certainly prefer better sounding music, but I'd rat...
How do you find time to enjoy your $$$ speakers and system? I manage to have plenty of time to listen to tunes, watch movies and television series, and read a lot of books. Good for several hours a day of each.....
Hollywood Records reissue of Queen "Jazz" I saw Queen around the time of Queen II, and they were awesome - a magnificent show, and only $2....
The last of the black Rock 'n' Roll pioneers? @bdp24 - through the mid-70's through the next 10 years or so, pretty much any party I'd go to in the SF Bay Area would have at least as much blowzeen on hand as cannabis. I liked 'em both, plus some other goodies, so it was fine with me. Starting...
Does Hearing Loss Disqualify Me from Audiophiledom? I wear above-the-ear hearing aids when listening to 2-channel, and in-ear hearing aids for headphones... I may not hear it as well as some, but I can certainly tell the difference in sound quality....
Ray Charles - "Rap is not music" 'Back in the day', soul music was probably the most popular music outside of the Beatles and such, and before the Beatles, soul music totally dominated the pop charts. Rap/hip-hop is hugely popular among all kinds of people, largely in their teen... |
