Revel Salons - Do they really sound like this? "Salons sound like a PA system? I'm outta this thread!"Hyperbole is all too common as people back their favorites.Kal
Revel Salons - Do they really sound like this? In a room of those dimensions and with the described setup and listening position, toe-in is mandatory. You are sitting off axis and too much HF energy is being absorbed by the sidewall treatment. I have heard them toed-in severely, a la Blumlein,...
What speakers are these? Gilbert Yeung of BlueCircle did it. He also built the preamp into a matching purse. Long story which he will happily recount.
Anybody heard of GEKKO speakers? Sure and I've hear them, too. Only once, mercifully.
Can 3 Way Binding Posts Accept Spades????? 2 of the 3ways go both ways. ;-)Kal
Surround Speaker cabling question I said "Depends on wire gauge and power levels." I should have added that I have a similar difference between sides and there's no detectable problem.Kal

Sonic Frontiers- Quality and Reliability? Anyone want to comment on the necessity/value of tube matching on these units, especially the Line-3?Kal

Sound is too thin. What to upgrade, add or remove? What I see is a very hard, reflective room with very little in the way of absorbent materials. So you probably have lots of bass but too much of everything else for proper balance. I would suggest putting in wide-range absorbent panels and/or trap...

Mccormack DNA-1 Rev. B or DNA 225 I have not used a Rev.B but I found the Rev.A DNA-1 a bit warmer than the DNA225. Conversely, the DNA225 was a bit more incisive. So, it really depends on what you want/need.Kal |
