Coaxials - Reality vs. Experience?
I have owned both types and time aligned speakers. It think it is all hype. I think it matters a bit but frequency response, dispersion, port noise etc are all more important.
Headphones vs speakers….
I have used both for a long time. Headphones have good deep bass and you need full range speaker, true 20hz. The main thing speaker do better than headphones is soundstage. So it will come down to if soundstage is important to you.
Focal Kanta 2 or KEF Reference Meta 1 plus KC62 sub?
Never KEF… just my opinion.
Flat Screen Television behind speakers
I have A/B tested a tv between my speakers and then nothing between them. Honestly it is really hard to hear the difference. Just try it for yourself and see. I personally hang a projector screen between mine about 3’ off the rear wall (pictured i...
When people upgrade from Thiel
I own a pair of 2.4 and used them for about 10 years. They are in a second system now. I upgraded to Revel 228be after demoing a bunch of stuff priced from $10k-$30k. I use duel subs with all my speakers.
Revel F208 - worth a try?
Hmm
Revel F208 - worth a try?
matt_mccloat,   I run my Revel 228be on a McIntosh MC462 which I find as a nice combo I can listen all day. I also own Rotel amps in my home theater and I would not recommend “lower end” Rotel with Revel. It makes them sound a little cold and ha...
Has anyone truly compared Vintage vs. Modern?
Yes I have used a Marantz 2285. I had it for about a years while I fixed it up for my dad and gave it back to him. At the time I had a Peach tree Deco (one of their first models) and I ran a pair of B&W 703s with the Marantz 2285 to try it out...
To pricey
No not to me. B&W are well made (800 series) and detailed but they get the fundamentals of frequency response wrong which is far more important than fancy materials.   I had a private demo of the of the 802D4 on McIntosh MC611 mono amps and ...
Compatibility between speakers and sub.
Get a high pass crossover and use what ever sun you want. Matching is mostly about the crossover. I mean most speakers have totally different tweeters, mids and woofers…. The crossovers make them play nice.
Thiel Owners
Well after 20 years I let my kids make a fort out of my Thiel 2.4 boxes… looks like I will be taking a pair of 2.4s to the grave lol. They have lived in a second system for awhile now.
Revel F208 - worth a try?
Can’t go wrong with revel. I do think they need subs as they roll off a little high for me. You would have to spend a lot more to do better.
Bowers and Wilkins, 801 D4
Make sure you listen to the B&W loud and long before buying, they are a bright speaker.
2 x Rel S/812 or Singel No 25
Always two minimum, always.
Kanta No.1 vs Olympica Nova 1?
have demoed the Olympica III and Nova 3 a few times. I own the Revel 228be and use subs which is important I think.    The short version is I think the Revels are a better speaker.    The long version… the Sonus Fabers have a slight dip in the u...
