Wilson Alexia V seating distance
I would just do what you like. I don’t follow my JBL manual. They want them pointed straight ahead close together (8’-9’) and back farther (10-12’) but I have them at 10’ wide and 10’ back, toed in. Following the manual’s setup I felt like I lost ...
Wilson Alexia V seating distance
If you go wider (closer to the speakers and wider apart) you will need to toe them in more and the sweet spot gets smaller. For a single seat it is honestly fine to have them wide. No real harm but the sweet spot will be tiny if you get too wide. ...
JBL 4367 = Sleep Denervation
Mijostyn, I have looked at the miniDSP SHD. It is much cheaper than other options. Do you feel there is any resolution loss with it? Think the output stage is good enough? It complicates my home theater pass through as I would have to use the ana...
Pre-Meta KEF Reference 1 or LS50 Meta
Hands down Reference 1. No contest.
JBL 4367 = Sleep Denervation
Phusis,   thanks for the insightful comments. I believe you are correct on all aspects.
JBL 4367 = Sleep Denervation
Roxy,   the interesting thing is I don’t feel like I have given up anything compared to a tradition box speaker to get the added benefits. I have almost no horn experience before this (PA systems and Klispch speakers). I never thought I would en...
JBL 4367 = Sleep Denervation
I am still really enjoying the JBL 4367. If anything my opinion over the last month has only improved. I think there are two standout sound qualities that are special. #1 they just play so effortlessly. I listen louder than I should, often volume...
Add sub to 802D4s?
Two 12” subs nothing less. every octave lower requires 4 times the throw or surface area for the same SPL. Your speakers have 100in2 of surface area each and a single 12 has 113”in2. So really even larger would be better…   Anyone who thinks sub...
Picking Speakers 20k-30k
Wow $38k for the Rockport Atria II. Talk about inflation.
Picking Speakers 20k-30k
Hmm you have Paradigm Persona 3F with matching subs now? You are already there speaker wise. You are chasing a ghost. Do you use the anthem for bass management/crossover? If so you might get better sound with higher end separates. Keep in mind you...
Add sub to 802D4s?
I demoed the 802D4 on McIntosh MC611s and 2700 preamp. It sounded pretty good. Then I came home and listened to the same songs on my system with two subs highpassed at 60hz (Revel 228be, JL audio E112, MC462 amp). The bass was so much better on my...
Will I benefit from upgrading REL subwoofer pair
Yes for sure IMO. But first measure the room with something like REW (it is free, just need a mic). Secondly I would add a highpass filter first before changing subs. 99% of disconnect is frequency related.
low frequencies
I have a pair of Thiel 2.4 in my second system. They were in my main system for a few years. I have owned them for a very long time and have had them in 4 rooms with at two different houses. The Thiels have great low bass extension and texture. Me...
High end speakers at low volume
You need a dynamic speaker to sound good at low volume. I have only heard the Sabrina on your list. It is ok but low efficacy and probably nothing special at low volume. It was fine when I demoed it but I probably ran it around 90db for the demo. ...
Basic Budget Bookshelf speakers
JBL 630 at $700 per pair would be in my list. Having heard the older 530s and similar kefs I would guess the JBL is more dynamic top to bottom. Just a guess as I have not heard them but have heard both brands speaker ranges. 60 day trial available...
