Tower Speakers Close to Back Wall
24” measured from the driver face is actually good for the bass, as bass is omni directional and the close boundary minimizes the 1/4 wave cancelation your get between 3.5’ and 6’ into the room. This is why you often see subs close to the front wa...
Klipsch speaker placement
They can all be placed in a room. I do fine some of them have a bass shelve (downward shelve) and are more full with some wall boundary enforcement.
Focal Aria 948
Honestly in this price range/speaker size you really need subs. An active crossover that allows for a highpass is really the key to good bass with domestic size/cost speakers.    I have owned some of the products recommend in this thread and they...
Focal Aria 948
Your take is right on the focal… no bass. If you don’t like it move along. even the Sopra lacks bass regardless of what the internet says…A lot of people on here listen to soft music. I need bass slam.  Anyway the only speaker I can speak to on ...
USB DACs that outperforms OPPO 105D's internal DAC?
Just get a streamer. Life will be better. You can use tidal connect (and others) and be done with it. Tidal connect will let you use your phone, tablet or computer to pick songs. When you click on them the streamer is actually pulling and playing ...
Toslink
Toslink can be good from a computer (like and old Mac) as it knocks out the computer noise with a physical electrical break . Modern streamers seem pretty quiet to me. All other things being equal they are bandwidth limited.
What happen to MQA on Tidal?
They have talked about moving to FLAC with MQA going bankrupt.    https://www.headphonesty.com/2023/04/mqa-files-bankruptcy-tidal-switches-hi-res-flac/
WiFi Streaming Versus An Ethernet Cable Connection
You guys must all have golden ears lol. I can’t hear a difference. There is sometimes (often maybe) an advantage to not wire things together as noise can travel from one device to another. I once had the hum of a plasma tv bleed through my entire ...
dac and streamer or seperates
I would buy a good DAC. Streamer tech is changing fast these days. Even the very cheap ifi zen stream ($400) sounds real nice.
Best way to clean glossy finish on speakers?
I always vacuum the dust off gloss speakers then use car wax to make them shine.
Loudspeaker sensitivity and dynamics: are the two inexorably linked?
Bobbyd, “I'm not referring to maximum loudness or volume, rather that the music sounds less reproduced and more that the instrumentation and vocals are more real sounding through higher sensitivity speakers.” this is my exact experience when mo...
Loudspeaker sensitivity and dynamics: are the two inexorably linked?
Speakers are just motors and should be treated like motors, but there are a few things at play.    #1 power to weight of the amp/cone is key. Resistance of the drivers play into the power equation as does box size. #2 air cupping of the driver. ...
Sopra 2 Amp Recommendation
Laaudionit,   Interesting comment on the Mac, I don’t disagree as I have not heard any of those. but does show the importance of listening to them yourself.   I find it important to use a low enough tap. If the speaker is low ohm (like the Sopr...
JBL 4367 = Sleep Denervation
Phusis,   thank you for the well written comment. My thoughts align with yours. I am not too worried about home theater (it is a duel room, but I am a 99% music 1% movies based on time spent doing each). Honestly I am am a little worried about i...
Flat frequency response
Duke is 100% correct. Downward sloping in room which could still be flat/pretty flat at the speaker is perfect.
