What most important in the sound of your cables?
I have a stock power cord on my ear.I've heard of audio jewelry, but even this is a bit ridiculous. 8-)
Romulus CD player--
I owned the Aesthetix Callisto Signature and Io non signature for 5+ years. The Signature update is not that big of a deal when it comes to parts updates. Caps updated to DynamicapsÂ….big deal! They were fine a decade ago but nothing special now. F...
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
I am not here for any agenda on the Lampi or anything else. I simply suggested a tube change that in my system, which excels in 3D presentation, might give the reviewer here another view into the Lampi sound. And with the CAT amps/SoundLab pair, I...

Well Joecasey, if you like a flat 3D presentation with the middle octaves distant, then the Sylvania tubes will be for you.

As with any tube rig, I understand that rolling tubes will allow me to fine tune the sound. I also understand, JaFox, that the UN 99 made a dramatic difference to you; and I sincerely appreciate your generous offer. But I don't think the Big6 need...

Mattnshilp: I guess the only way is for me to pop out the tube pair from my L6 and send them to you. Send me a note through my member name with your address and I can get them to you. Will be 2-3 days shipping, and a week to play and then 2-3 days...

I hate to sound like a broken record, but until you get the National Union VT-99 tubes in the Lampi, you are not even remotely close to hearing its potential.

Shawbrows3: yes, "trash" is very harsh. And that's how it was in my system relative to the NU's. I have started with components full of stock tubes and the designer is clearly proud of the sound in stock form. But experience already told me about ...

Component "burn in" times are purely subjective. Having to wait 800 hours is absolutely ridiculous! 50 or 100 hours might easily be enough time for the component to perform mighty fine. Unless a component is severely flat or lacking extension at X...
Counterpoint, Modwright, Aesthetix sound?
I wonder where they would be today if that never happened.Actually, after the Counterpoint demise, Michael Elliot returned with a new company Alta Vista Audio which was a repair/update company of older Counterpoint products. This resolved all past...

Mattnshilp: as I posted here, if you are using the stock tubes, you're in for a shocker if you try the National Union VT-99.
Review: Concert Fidelity DAC-040 DA converter
Branislav…..what tubes did you have in the audio stage for the L6? If you are using the stock Sylvania VT-99, you need to put those in the trash! The L6 is very dimensionally flat and "distant" with these tubes. If the Lampi guys see this as their...
Counterpoint, Modwright, Aesthetix sound?
There were some issues with parts supplies with Counterpoint. Sadly, such events turned people off and that's understandable. But these were later resolved, and Michael Elliot continued on with the evolution of the 5.x into legendary performance p...
Counterpoint, Modwright, Aesthetix sound?
The Counterpoint 5.x preamp portrays space that the Calypso can not even begin to do. However, the Calypso has much more defined top-end extension and detail. Once you get used to a preamp like the 5.x, you will ultimately upgrade to a refined pro...

Just a 'within panels, there is nothing better than..'.He doesn't give up, does he?
