DAC for second system I thought I the op wanted a DAC?
Are audiophile products designed to initially impress then fatigue to make you upgrade? @johnk I have noticed that the DIY crowd is the same, they just do it cheaper because they are building it themselves. The DIY forums are filled with I built this because it's better than my last build.
We should reject hard-to-drive speakers more often Technically Atmasphere is correct, they use the aluminum panel as the voice coil, and they still use magnets. I highly doubt that apogee's suffer from thermal compression, the area is much larger to dissipate heat. I listened to a pair of Diva's t...
Is soundstage DEPTH a myth? @terraplane8bob +1 couldn't agree more with your analysis.
Are audiophile products designed to initially impress then fatigue to make you upgrade? @kota1 yeah right, I've never heard that with Atmos, maybe with Bacch
Are audiophile products designed to initially impress then fatigue to make you upgrade? @kota1 I doubt that, even with all that processing if you could walk around the room and the center channel was still just as coherent, then it would be too much if you did sit in the sweet spot .
Describe the "new HiFi sound"? I find that all that Dolby processing takes away from the music.
The problem with PLC Funny you say that. Most of his inventions were theoretical so not tangible. Most of his works were discoveries not inventions, and some were proven while he was still alive.
We should reject hard-to-drive speakers more often I don't think ESL's are the only loudspeakers that don't suffer from thermal compression, what about full range panel speakers like apogees?
Are audiophile products designed to initially impress then fatigue to make you upgrade? @kota1 why would you need a center channel for most music recordings? My apogee duetta 2 speakers have no problem with center imaging when the recording has it, it would ruin the imaging with a center channel with most recordings.
Are audiophile products designed to initially impress then fatigue to make you upgrade? @mihorn so if I listen to your YouTube presentation through my cheap computer speakers the sound will be natural?
Describe the "new HiFi sound"? @kota1 I didn't say that my friends stereo's suck, it's just that Atmos sucks for music. I didn't care for anything Dolby did since there beginning.
Are audiophile products designed to initially impress then fatigue to make you upgrade? You can still get 50 year old krell amps serviced, and I'm sure pass labs services their older equipment. Try having a run of the mill mainstream piece of audio equipment serviced, usually doesn't happen.
Describe the "new HiFi sound"? @kota1 all my speakers are pointed straight, not aimed at my head and they sound way better than all my friends Atmos systems. Atmos is an unnatural effect for a lot of types of music especially unamplified music.
Are audiophile products designed to initially impress then fatigue to make you upgrade? @johnk there are many high end audio products that last a lifetime with proper maintenance. |
