Esoteric A100 Service Nightmare
Now I believe even less. OP, you have to prove your case here, anyone can say anything. I don’t care much about either Esoteric or Esoteric owners, by the way.
Does the quality of an older interconnect degrade the sound over time?
Yeah, clean the connectors every year and you should be fine. No deterioration in sound quality, I use at least 20 years old speaker cables. Not sure about 50 years old cables, it probably depends.
Why the facination with integrated amps?
Diablo 300 without optional phono and dac is basically a stereo power amp, preamp section is passive. The least expensive Gryphon power amp is I think in the mid-$30k.Can you do better than the Diablo for $16k with separates, speaking only transis...
Why the facination with integrated amps?
Flemming Rasmussen of Gryphon knew that he was going to retire soon, so he wanted to design the best integrated for almost reasonable cost he could for people who wanted his equipment but could not have separates for one reason or another. Not tha...
Esoteric A100 Service Nightmare
" quoted shipping in the thousands " sounds very odd unless the story is not true or TAP Electronics want to get rid of this customer. Some special tools or particular know how might be guarded by a manufacturer.
Bryston 4B3 vs Mac MC462 vs Pass Labs X250.8, OR... GRYPHON Diablo 300?
I would ask for all Gryphon Reference or Purist Audio Dominus cables and power cord, all burnt in for at least 300 hours. Cables can really ruin everything. No surprise with Bryston, they are in fact pro amp company. Some in the know say that it is...
USED RECORD GRADING- What's the Problems?
Yeah, I understand scraping as groove wear or groove factory defect. I have a few records with that in the beginning of each side otherwise nearly perfect. They are first release Japanese promo records from 70s and sound better than anything I kno...
Bryston 4B3 vs Mac MC462 vs Pass Labs X250.8, OR... GRYPHON Diablo 300?
Diablo 300 is becoming quite popular because it represents great audiophile value. Sure, Gryphon separates would be much better, but excuse me, that kind of money is beyond the reach of 99% especially if you want top of the line. But even 'entry l...
Which area of components to spend the most $ on? Boy I was wrong all my life!
I am afraid, digital has to be quite expensive to sound acceptable, what you did you simply took it close to that. Many good points - recording, room, level the system already at, synergy. I no longer think in terms of upgrades, I am not going to u...
Bryston 4B3 vs Mac MC462 vs Pass Labs X250.8, OR... GRYPHON Diablo 300?
Diablo needs at least 100 hours of burn-in time in addition to 80 I think factory hours. Make sure of that. Also, Gryphon matches well with Gryphon and better Purist Audio cables and cords, I suspect it does well with some others too but don't kno...
Gryphon Diablo 300 Integrated or Dartzeel LHC-208 Integrated with PMC Fact 12 Speakers
Gryphon will drive your speakers better and the rest I can't know. I am a Gryphon fan and have no need for Swiss. Swiss always means double the price. Everything breaks from time to time, it's impossible to compare long term reliability in this ca...
Bad case of upgrade fever
Get your speakers real amp, integrated Plinius is not good enough. Improving the source is always a good idea. Regenerators don't work well in all cases, though usually work well for the source components.
Any advice on buying quality vinyl
In my experience all records sound a little better with each subsequent cleaning, even after three or four times. I use Okki Nokki machine and Audio Intelligent fluids, pre-cleaner plus three step solutions.
Bad case of upgrade fever
I have no idea how good your digital source is and won't comment on that. I agree with your thinking, I guess, you might want better integrated/separates to bring more out of your speakers. Messing around with power cords, cables and duplexes make...
USED RECORD GRADING- What's the Problems?
When seller with good feedback says NM I automatically assume that it will be VG+, and in 90% of cases I am correct. When it says VG+ it is quite a range that I got - from VG- to true NM. So I usually expect VG+ record and the right to return it. ...
