Bryston 4B3 vs Mac MC462 vs Pass Labs X250.8, OR... GRYPHON Diablo 300?
Gryphon makes their own speakers and probably doesn't support anyone. Look up their discontinued Atlantis on ebay, as an example.
Bryston 4B3 vs Mac MC462 vs Pass Labs X250.8, OR... GRYPHON Diablo 300?
No, Flemming is an industrial designer and painter. He worked with great engineers to make these pieces happen.I think, that's my guess, that perhaps in addition to what you said about speakers, the Diablo was not really burned in. It needs 200 ho...
Where would you sell your vinyl collection?
Unless you need money badly don't sell your favorite records, or any records that you listen to.  Don't let others feed on you.
Why the facination with integrated amps?
That’s one reason why I am interested in Gryphon Diablo 300 and consider getting it at some point in time, most likely used. It is very close to no-compromise integrated, of course it’s a compromise compared to Gryphon separates. If it lasts me fo...
Why the facination with integrated amps?
Right. Including me, at least for now. Economic future is getting more and more uncertain for the majority, I think. I currently spend less on equipment upgrades than I could.
Why the facination with integrated amps?
Of course, just not the best sound. As mentioned above, power supply compromise is the last thing that I would want and lack of true separation of low level and high level circuitry is a big audiophile no no.
Why the facination with integrated amps?
Yes, you might live longer. Question is what for ?
Why don't we make a list of best pressings ?
Japanese vinyl from 70s itself is of very high quality, very quiet, but it doesn’t always sound best.Say, I didn’t compare Pink Floyd’s WYWH pressings, I only have original Japanese and it does sound very acceptable. Not very good recording, thoug...
Why don't we make a list of best pressings ?
There are people here who did compare multiple pressings. Often you don't even need high end equipment, just a good one.
Opinions about upgrade
I heard that ProAc sound best with tube amps.
Electrostatic pros and cons.
Indeed. Big Sounlabs with big Atma-Sphere or VTL amps would be great. No woofers/subwoofers needed. If that's your kind of sound.Bill, yeah they are about $250k.
Electrostatic pros and cons.
Electrostatics are very fast and transparent. Can any woofer match ?This is all BS, you need big panels and right amp, no hybridization please.Bill, time to replace your horns/not horns with something like JM Labs Grand Utopia.
Electrostatic pros and cons.
There was that place called Hi-Fi Farm that sold some big electrostatic speakers made in the Netherlands. They were bigger than the biggest SoundLabs, don't know better or not. Retail was about $100k, I saw their demo for I think $40k.Hybrid speak...
Electrostatic pros and cons.
Bill, I like your room. Why do you have Avant Garde Duo and not Trio, by the way ? Too big or not much of a difference ?Coherence is so important.
Best return for the money, system upgrade suggestions please.
grm, I can't be sure but since you have Kimber interconnects you might want to try Kimber speaker cables first, unless you feel that you may not like your interconnects.Besides, very long time ago I tried those Audioquests 4 and they were terrible.
