Nottingham Spacedeck vs Rega Planar 8 vs Technics SL1200G
Some use copper mats with their turntables, not Nottinghams. Ralph, you should not pretend to be undisputed expert, some of what you say in incorrect or debatable. And I will not argue with those who don't understand the concept of table/arm match...

I listen to some of the fastest and articulate performers one can think of - John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia. I also heard Paco de Lucia live. Nottingham is good enough in this respect, again the current should be good but that's with any turnta...
Kuzma/Koetsu feedbak??
Comparing turntables in different systems..Table is a 'pace maker', the beginning, it sets things in motion, gives the drive and propulsion. Any decent cartridge would do, you should still be able to hear and feel what the table does even if the r...
New $24,000 inter-connect
$24k cables is certainly an insult to working people but so are many other things. $3k bottle of wine is even worse, as an example. As for the sound, it's another point. Anyway, $100k monoblocks and $50k turntables sound reasonable compared to that.
Who is next??
Gryphon people reading Audiogon and posting. Is it a good or bad sign of the direction the company is going in ?For my taste - bad. Everyone in the know knows Gryphon, it needs no cheap and free advertising. In fact, it needs no advertising at all...
Kuzma/Koetsu feedbak??
Nothing against or for Kuzma but I think that at this level you might want to compare a few turntables, preferably in the same system. Especially if you are going to keep your analog front end for a long time. It is usually difficult to arrange th...
What is the best way to tame a slightly bright speaker?
Right tube amp and cables ?

I would consider three MM cartridges - Goldring 1042, Nagaola MP-500 and Audio Note IQ3. Cost - about $500 - $1100.You also need speed and 'bite' and explosive dynamics for real flamenco, not new age kind of flamenco. Nagaoka and Audio Note might ...
What do you like most? Jazz or Classic?
Frog, I can't play like Paganini but maybe I can 'think' like Paganini so I make contact and that's how I 'listen' to him. Both Goodman's and Ponty's best years were with McLaughlin. John was a true leader, just like Miles. I do like some Ponty's p...
Is this the end of HEA?
Right. True audiophiles have always been a rare breed, now probably even rarer. Some will remain, at least for as long as analog recordings are available, old and new. Digital will not create audiophiles.
High end in Tokyo?
Geoff, yeah, I heard that too, and saw the pictures. For traditional Japanese the best visitor is the one that doesn't come. Certainly not without invitation.

I use Goldring 1042 MM as well. Nagaoka MP500 is fine. It took me an hour or so to find the overall best anti-skate position but that was fun. VTA - arm in parallel, in my case, easy.Nottinghams keep working for decades, maybe you'll have to repla...

Also may depend on what cartridge you are going to use. Nottingham arm with low compliance heavy cartridge would not be a good idea.At least no-one recommends Rega, makes no sense to pay big money for it.

Nottingham is in business, as far as I know. Yes, wires are very delicate, you got to have precise hands or find someone to install the cartridge.Ralph only knows direct drive. Dynamics is not a problem with Nottingham at all if the wall current i...
What do you like most? Jazz or Classic?
Jerry Goodman from the first and Jean Luc Ponty from the second Mahavishnu Orchestra jazzrock group were excellent. I generally prefer the former but not by much, Jerry's violin is more wild and Jean Luc's more aristocratic. Both played electric v...
