I’m getting a hum in my integrated tube amp and it’s bugging me alot Disconnect the speakers (and everything else), if you still hear the hum, it's obviously the amp, and likely transformer noise. Please check with the manufacturer if it is safe to power ON this amplifier without speakers connected!
Is there a way to switch one set of speakers between two sound systems? Is there any way to switch a single set of speakers between two different amplifiers without compromising sonics? Switching would be done often, so the mechanism would have to be easy -- preferably with a remote or the twist of a dial or even don...
Right way to connect a 2nd “extension” center channel speaker? Should I take the wire from the AVR to the Center speaker, and splice in the longer wire to the 2nd Center speaker? In my opinion, this is not a good idea because the center channel doesn’t have all the signal for 5.1 sound. If the Sony STR-DE...
Bi-Amping McIntosh MC303 The traditional approach to bi-amp/bi-wiring speakers is to connect the treble and bass to the same impedance tap at the amplifier output. Since the Blade is rated at 4Ω, you can connect both to a 4Ω tap. You can also experiment by connecting bot...
Tracking down a hum. I noticed a hum from my tube pre amplifier, a Rogue Audio Model 99 (line stage only)... I'm using the Rogue to send a signal to a Musical Fidelity X-P200. BTW, the problem may be with the power amp, how do you come to the conclusion that the pr...
Tracking down a hum. If hum occurs only in one channel, swap tube between channels and see the hum follow. if hum stay in the same channel, tube isn't the problem. If there is hum in both channel, probably a power supply issue.

Velodyne DD15 - worth repairing the plate amp? Another option is to use a Velodyne SMS-1 with a power amp to replace the subwoofer plate amp.
Full range stand mounted speakers Frequency response of the Triton One.R is 27 Hz - 25 kHz (-6dB on axis @ 27Hz, anechoic bass response), and the frequency response of Totem Mani-2 is 29Hz - 20kHz ±3dB. If paired with a powerful high-current amplifier, Totem will be on par with T...
Tweeter protection The amplifier provides clean power to the tweeter which is the best protection! Tweeters usually get fried from excess energy due to amplifier clipping. It must be that when I recalibrate my AVR, it's set to high. If you're using an AV rece...

Cambridge Azur 851A Problem! Help!! I always turn the unit off after using it, so the switch gets used. Standby power consumption is less than 0.5W, and it is not necessary to turn off the Azur 851A through the rocker switch on the back.
