Using 2 Amps with Audible Illusions Modulus 3A Preamp
According to the Audible Illusions Modulus 3A manual, its output impedance is 1.2kΩ. It is best to check that the input impedance of the two power amplifiers paralleled should not be lower than 12kΩ, otherwise it may cause low-frequency roll-off. ...
***Need Multi Voltage Integrated USB DAC/Headphone/Amplifier Recommendations***
Check out the ATC SIA2-100 Stereo Integrated Amplifier.   AMPLIFIER Max Continuous Power Output: 100W (0.1% THD, 8 ohms, both channels driven) Frequency Response: < 2 Hz – > 250 kHz (-3dB)  Distortion: <0.0015% / 96dB (1kHz, 8 ...
Outlet Question
I assume steel backstrap is fine, maybe non magnetic stainless steel is preferable. No?
I see the issue with ABX blind testing
And the white one bigger than the black!☺
Outlet Question
Ferrous Steel... Just look at an audio grade outlet company's outlet, that have their outlets made to their specs. You won't see any steel used.  You don't have to spend big bucks for a good sounding outlet. Just buy one that has a non nickel pl...
XLR Pinouts on Thorens TD1601
I assume ANY ONE of the three, and NOT ALL three, correct? Yes, any one will do. Can I use a multi-meter to test the polarity coming out of the Thorens via XLR? Disconnect the cartridge from the tonearm leads, use an ohmmeter, a probe on th...
XLR Pinouts on Thorens TD1601
I’d also like to add that if the turntable uses the "US" standard and you don’t want to use the phase button, there is more than one way to adjust the system polarity: 1. Swap the RED and GREEN, WHITE and BLUE leads on the phono cartridge. 2. Co...

Is there something else comparable to the TAD? https://www.amazon.com/Vacuum-Tester-Amplifier-Current-Version https://www.amazon.com/Nobsound-Current-Amplifier-Cathode-Version
XLR Pinouts on Thorens TD1601
If the turntable use a the “American“ standard, and I did not want to engage the phase button, I would need to rewire the XLR‘s, meaning swap, hot and cold on one end for both cables, right? Yes. However, as @lewm  pointed out, it doesn't actu...
XLR Pinouts on Thorens TD1601
  1. QUESTION: Can anyone tell me the XLR pinouts of the Thorens TD-1601? I could be wrong, but I don’t think Thorens would use the "American" standard (1=GND =HOT 3=COLD) since it comes from Germany. However, this can be easily confirmed by a...
Accuphase E-260 Voltage Conversion (100V to 230V)
@joaop_ferreira Welcome to the forum! I will be visiting Japan and would like to buy an Accuphase E303. Do you think that the wiring system is similar and that it would be possible to convert it to 230V AC ? Yes, you can download the service...
NAD C399 connected to the Nalai Hypex 500 Monoblocks as a preamp.
The key question is if the sound characteristics of the NAD synergize well with the amp for your particular tastes/preferences and within the context of your system. I don't think anyone but the OP himself can give any meaningful answer to this...
NAD C399 connected to the Nalai Hypex 500 Monoblocks as a preamp.
Based on the specs, I don't see any mismatch. The preamp output to power amplifier input impedance ratio is greater than 10:1, and the preamp has sufficient gain to drive the power amplifier to its full power rating except at the lowest gain setti...
Accuphase E-260 Voltage Conversion (100V to 230V)
does it matter which wires go on top and on the bottom of pin 3 ?  It doesn’t matter. the fuse is currently used on a 120b Hegel H190 and it’s rated at 10AT ( slow blow) IIRC, the fuse in the E-270 is 5A slow blow, your 10A SR fuse will not...
Accuphase E-260 Voltage Conversion (100V to 230V)
If following the voltage conversion table to 120v from the e-260 service manual, and apply the rewiring on the e-270, it turns out that pin 2 should be black and pin 4 should be orange. @jgore  Pins 2 and 4 are not connected to any part of the...
