The Physics of Electricity
Mostly everything I hear can be measured. I think we need to try to come up with a way of interpreting these measurements, or new ways of measuring, but that is easier said than done.Sometimes these cables can measure differently in and out of sys...
The Physics of Electricity
I don't think the OP of this thread is necessarily a troll. They did buy cables, and may be looking for something as to what they should hear, and why. Understanding it isn't easy unless you understand some electronic technology. The science and t...
Speakers free of grain, glare and steel?
I consider the recording the first link. If there is something bad there, certain speakers that may seem neutral, can really emphasize a bad recording. We want to listen to all of our music, without glare, and fatigue.
Speakers free of grain, glare and steel?
Lean toward a soft dome tweeter. A metal one will really bring out any glare on the recording. And sometimes get more offensive than a soft dome. Harbeth would be a good one to check out, and Spendor. These brands focus on great midrange, where th...
When does a 5V4G/GZ32 have to be replaced?
Yes you will measure 5 volts AC across #2 & #8 of the tube socket but if the meter probe was to slip and short 8 to chassis (B-) sparks are going to fly big time.....Jea48 (Threads | Answers | This Thread)That's what I was missing. When I type...
When does a 5V4G/GZ32 have to be replaced?
Even if it was a 5U4, there will be dangerous voltage everywhere. Maybe read some tube theory books. It's to hard for me to explain. A long time since I learned this. Some are directly heated, others are indirectly heated. The risk is still there ...
When does a 5V4G/GZ32 have to be replaced?
Meisterfloh, I forgot about this. I don't know of any email notification from them. You can put a link at the top of your search page to click on, and see what changed as far as other people posting on your thread, and any threads you may have pos...
When does a 5V4G/GZ32 have to be replaced?
This is part of my concern. When you look at the diagram for the 5V4, the cathode and heater are tied together. That will put the voltage of your filament to from what I learned. Actually, they refer to pin 8 as both the heater, and cathode. With ...
When does a 5V4G/GZ32 have to be replaced?
Retry Dynaco link above[http://www.triodeel.com/dynamk3.gif]
When does a 5V4G/GZ32 have to be replaced?
I'll to try to give you a little idea, why you wouldn't measure the 5 volts on the filament. There would be the full B+ plus high voltage on it *also*. That is why it is dangerous. Pin 8(rectifier tube) on this Dynaco amp (link below), has the out...
When does a 5V4G/GZ32 have to be replaced?
Pardon the grammar, I just got worried about losing a new member.
When does a 5V4G/GZ32 have to be replaced?
I would not check the voltage on the rectifier tube filament, if that is what your speaking of. The voltage there is several hundred volts, and *deadly*. Even if you could measure it, it wouldn't tell you the condition of the rectifier. The high v...
Resonant Frequency Tracking Problems please help
Try different records and see if they cause the exact woofer excursion. I'm just wondering if it's the records warpage itself.
Is It Safe To Connect Speakers To Two Amps??
Almarg, thanks for clarifying.
Is It Safe To Connect Speakers To Two Amps??
Then switch it over with a good switch that doesn't use resistors while playing.Let me clarify. I don't mean change the switch over with music playing, just no unneeded resistors a switch might put in the signal path. Definitely the amps should be...
