Magnepan 1.7 i - Amp suggestions
Agree that you should avoid anything Class D unless you can audition it first. None are good enough to gamble on anyway. The best ones merely match a decent class AB amp. The Halo Integrated is a decent match for the 1.7s but a Yamaha A-S2100 woul...
Am I the only one who doesn’t love Harbeth P3esr?
The LS-50s are indeed the warmer speaker, especially if their tweeters are below ear height with little or zero toe-in. Their tweeters also have less metallic signature than the Harbeth aluminum IME. IDK that I'd consider the P3s bright once broke...
Electric feedback from water circulation pump
I see. You stated "hum" in your OP, thus I figured it was transformer hum coming through your speakers. Yeah, a DC blocker won't do anything for hiss.

A DC blocker may be all you need. The AVA Humdinger works best.
Anybody in Touch w Andy at Vintage Tube0
It seems this happens occasionally.
Broken hearted...magnepan and vandersteen
I've owned two of the entry models from each brand - same level of components, same room. The 1Cis are comparable to the 1.7is in overall value, but they have some different strengths. I like both of these more than the 2CE Sig IIs. Oddly, I find ...
Does your system hate you when you ignore her?
You might also consider the potential differences in the rooms temp and humidity levels which does affect a system's performance in measurable ways.

Considering Harbeth C 7ES-3
If your listening space is at least 200 ft sq,  jump on this incredible deal:  https://www.audiogon.com/listings/lis9e8b2-stirling-broadcast-ls3-6-monitors This is a steal of a price for one of the best speakers I've heard anywhere. The midrange i...
Purchased new speakers, need amp suggestion
Something with balls. The Aria 936 is not as efficient as the specs might have you believe. I'd look for a class AB amp of at least 75watts/ch RMS power. $1K is quite limiting as far as new amps go, so you might be better off with a pre-owned amp....
I'm looking to learn about Air Motion Transformer technology
In general, ribbon tweeters may sometimes have that last nth degree of uber detail or resolution compared to ATM's, but not by much at all. The difference may only make it a little easier to blend ATM's with the mid or woofer compared to ribbon. R...
Considering Harbeth C 7ES-3
Harbeths only lack treble compared to speakers with a tipped-up, intentionally bright response - speakers designed to impress in quick auditions, Golden Ear Tritons for example.
Considering Harbeth C 7ES-3
Hi, @helomech! You seem to be one of the few people around with direct experience with the Spendor SP2/3R2. Could you please elaborate a bit more on:1. the difference between the SP2/3R2 and the Stirling’s?2. the difference between the SP2/3R2 and...
Considering Harbeth C 7ES-3
Helomech... in every forum, when someone opens a thread asking about Harbeth do you have to come in and recommend Spendor or Stirling?"nothing the C7 do that the A4 dont do better" . I mean, really dude? Yes, that is my opinion based on my auditio...
Considering Harbeth C 7ES-3
If someone likes the Harbeths, I doubt they'd really like the Spendor floor standers. They don't have that lush organic sound of the HarbethsIn my experience the new Spendor A series sounds far more organic than any Harbeth I've heard. I do know ...
