Klipsch speaker choices
I’ve heard all of the speakers helomech mentions...a couple of ’em extensively, and I still maintain that Heresy IIIs have mids that utterly give up nothing to those brands, and in fact I’ll argue that in terms of lifelike tonal qualities and real...
Klipsch speaker choices
@mrdecibel " there is absolutely no good reason in buying a Klipsch speaker "....from the guy who thought, and probably still does ( and not so long ago ), that original Advents were the best there was, regardless of cost....I take what Helo says,...
Klipsch speaker choices
(BTW, I also dampened the horns and did A/B comparison with mono source and heard no appreciable difference - just be sure the horns have there gaskets and are screwed tight to the baffle.)Same here. Spent a whole day damping the horns of my Heres...
Upgrade Hint 6?
Unfortunately the Topping DX7 Pro employs op ampsSo... it also measures nearly as well as the latest Benchmark and better than some Chords and Myteks. There are many levels of Op-amp quality and the best ones are competitive with top-shelf discret...
Owner of "Anticables" and dealer for Spatial Audio is an amazing guy
I wish more dealers were like that. My experience dealing with Spatial's designer, Clayton Shaw, was nothing short of exemplary. He's a true gentleman.
Klipsch speaker choices
If you have the space, forget Klipsch and try the Spatial Audio M5 Sapphire. Even their predecessors, the M4 Turbos, were far more refined than any Klipsch speaker I've heard. If you want Klipsch dynamics without sacrificing refinement, that's the...
Upgrade Hint 6?
Hah hah haaaaaa $400? Forgive me for not agreeing. Many years ago, I bought a used Adcom DA700 for $250. it was great, I used it for years.. Even returned a $2300 new raved in TAS and Streophile DAC since my $250 toy was just as good. But... Final...
Upgrade Hint 6?
You'd be much better off selling your Hint and putting your $$$$ toward separates or a better integrated. That or just enjoy what you have. DACs really don't get any better than what can currently be bought for ~$400. The technology peaked years a...
Is the buyer responsible to cover the cost of a return?
He should pay return shipping. I’m curios as to what sort of feedback this buyer has.
Considering simplifying my system... talk me down (or whatever)
The Klipsch factory was using a Cayin integrated for good reason, there is no need to look further. I too have an A-88T. It can drive almost any speaker to satisfying levels. Its transparency, detail and soundstaging are on-par with many expensive...
Bookshelf
Fern & Roby makes high-performance speakers designed specifically for these situations. https://www.fernandroby.com/products/details/the-ash-cube-speakers The drivers used in this model are very well-regarded.
Magnepan 1.7 i - Amp suggestions
Regarding the Van Alstine 400R--tried that with the 1.7's years ago and sent it back. On paper it looked to be a great match but in listening, I way preferred a Marantz integrated! Was never able to relax and let the music wash over me in a way ...
Target bias dictated by amp or by tube?
The sound quality will likely be inferior at the lower bias. Bias plays a huge role in an amp's sonic character. Try both but I bet you'll prefer the higher setting.
Time to buy a class D amp?
a bit bright and somehow dry, lacking warmness That description applies to every class D amp I’ve heard, even those with tubes on the input stage. As for ecological concerns, at low power levels, where most amps operate during most listening, even...
General question about tube preamps and gain
It might help to mention the model of preamp and tube types it uses.
