Best speakers for max. $3000? No one should advise you on speakers. De gustibus...They all vary so much that you should get out there and listen, with your own software. Ultimately, this is the best advice. If you go with a factory-direct brand, investigate how they've handled...
Best speakers for max. $3000? I've heard most of the speakers mentioned so far, the Spatials outperform most of them, no contest. That even goes for the $2K M4 Turbo S. They make Maggies sound veiled and diffused in comparison. As for Focals, you have to move up to the Kanta r...
Best speakers for max. $3000? As far as new speakers go, the best I've heard under $3K, that I believe most listeners will enjoy are the Spatial Audio M4 Triode Masters, recently replaced by the M5 Sapphires. They do require a fair bit of distance from the wall behind them but...
Speaker wants 100 watt RMS. Is 40 watt tube OK? I asked Monitor Audio a similar question when I owned Silver 8s, but I was considering a 20watt/Ch amp. They said it would be fine. One reason MA recommends a lot of power is because their floortstanders are capable of very high SPLs. If you can h...
Hi-Fi Lo-Fi Sure, anyone can ask anything, but ever notice how the threads that elicit the most responses are those involving 4 and 5 figure products? Ask about a $300 item and you’re lucky to get 2 responses. Audio shows are full of the same elitist mentalit...
Hi-Fi Lo-Fi Many folks won’t be willing to spend even $500 for a system. I only did so reluctantly and piece by piece. But for those who really want to get started in hi-fi I think we all ought to be able to point them in this sort of direction to get them sta...
Technical sophistication There are online resources far more credible than what you'll find on this site or the magazine pubs - the BBC archives for example:https://www.bbc.co.uk/rd/search?query=Harwood&submit=&page=1
JM Reynaud Bliss Jubilee's vs JM Reynaud Bliss Silver's Have you heard/owned the Bliss Silvers? It's odd to me that they sell the Bliss Jubilee for less than the most recent MSRP for the Bliss Silvers - gotta wonder where they shaved costs.
Technical sophistication They're mostly wannabe engineers here, like that guy who runs this site:http://www.machinadynamica.com/
Imported audio are you getting the same level of performance vs domestic priced equip? I usually get better performance per dollar with the imported brands, despite the import markup. The exception lies with *some of the factory-direct brands.
Klipsch!. The worst speaker company, EVER? Well, with any Heresy speaker, you can still get bass punch at 60db. That's not the case with most speakers.
Klipsch!. The worst speaker company, EVER? The H1s are not H3s, even with Crites upgrades. Speakers like the SHL5 don't come anywhere close to offering as good dynamics at low SPLs. That's a trait that takes very high efficiency. I'm a big fan of British speakers but they too have weaknesses.
Klipsch, high end? ^Troll
Klipsch!. The worst speaker company, EVER? ^They are capable of some things you can't get from your precious Harbeths. On balance, they are just as good, but with different strengths.
Disappointed w/ Klipsch Heresy III. Now what? Klipsch is lo-fi these days. The old man made some good stuff once upon a time. Lol. Compared to what exactly? |
