Dynavector cartridges, old and new
Back in 1980 I bought both a diamond and a ruby cantilevered Karat.  Both were superb, but I prefered the ruby and sold the diamond.  These were killer cartridges .... which I'd love to have today.  Better than most MC's and equal to or better tha...

Is the Last Record Preservative system a worthwhile investment?
I swear by it.  Have used it on many of my records since 1967 or so when it first came to my attention.  First I clean the record using LAST cleaner, then apply the LAST solution.  The results, particularly on new records, is to completely elimina...
Discontinued equipment that you wish were still here. What do you miss or think will miss?
@reubent - I still have the BT-2, use a a SS backup to my ARC SP6a (they have a very similar sonic signature).  I had the bridged CC-2's only briefly back about 2002-3.  My audiophile brother in law and I were completed wowed by the depth of field...

Oops .... I forgot the Audionics BT-2 and a pair of CC-2 power amps.

I agree with grsz06's list, but my all time favorite would be the JBL's with the D150 woofer and 175 mid-treble horn.  Proably best for stereo in a pair of C-34 cabinets.
Drink of choice for serious listening?
Maker's Mark for me, on ice, with a splash of water thrown in.

rvpiano - Thanks.  We obviously hear things the same way.  But I also agree with your earlier post ..... it is fun to create the holography, conditions permitting.
Turning off tube preamp first sends solid state amp into protection?
n80 - That gear should give you good sound, and your sequence is correct.  But you should not have to turn off the amp once you've put it in standby.  Standby cuts power consumption to only a few watts, but keeps the capacitors formed.  It may len...
Turning off tube preamp first sends solid state amp into protection?
One of the all time truths from the "hi-fi" stage - start turning off at the far end of the chain.  Always power amp first, preamp second, originating component third.  And reverse when powering on.  Especially with tube gear. You eliminate dc offs...

The nightmare of the cartridge buyer...
As long as we are on the subject of cartridges, I want to bring up LAST stylus treatment and LAST record preservative.  I started using them in 1967 or 68 when they first came out.  What they do for records  and stylus longevity seems to be pretty...

oblgny - when I lived in Port Washington I almost bought that amp when it first came out years ago.  It sounded excellent with my 3.5's.  Good find!

prof - well, at least we agree on the Thiels.  I'm a twenty-five plus year user of same, and their coherence and attention to diffraction elimination do pay imaging dividends, for sure.I also agree that the Thiels, in a decent acoustic environment...
The nightmare of the cartridge buyer...
I'm glad to find that there are other Accuphase aficionados here.  I haven't heard the AC-3 so can't comment, but in no way would I describe the AC-2 as anything but neutral in both transient response and frequency response.  Since I've started us...
