Pass Labs Stfoth, you are correct. If you browse the Audiogon Blue Book, it is clear that both the volume and the price of most high end gear took a huge hit in 2008-2009, making bargains available. Since then, some items have maintained that price level,...
Are there any $1500 tube preamps that that can compare with Tubes4hifi's SP14? Another fine preamp would be a restored Audio Research SP-6b. One of the finest preamps ever made....they sell for around $1000 in good shape, and usually only require a capacitor (and sometimes resistor) upgrade. Plus perhaps $70 worth of new C...
Best speakers under $500? Fire away! Depends a lot on the type of music you listen to. Your 3020 certainly images well ..... so used Thiel 1.5's or better yet 1.6's (much rarer) might fit if you are interested in classical or jazz or singer-songwriters. Not the best for rock, though.

Best Cheap Amps for Magneplanar Speakers Outlaw M200 or M2200 monoblocks are excellent and relatively inexpensive. You'll be hard-pressed to find better transistorized amps for under $1k. At 200-300 wpc they are all the power your Maggies need and want, they are quite transparent, and ... |
