Perfect: current *is* useful, you know. You DO need at least a minimum amount of output horsepower to make (speaker) cones push air, after all (and Crustin's speaker sports an average-low 87 sensitivity). Given the minimum though, I too would choo...
Anyone herad the Audio Physic Avanti 111's?
The Avanti are generally better (bass included) than the Virgos -- but need big (current) amplification to get the best out of them. Especially in the mid-bass (to MY ears, ofcourse -- yrs may differ). So, you may be looking at extra investment......
Opinions on equipment+acoustics on large rooms
If U can't go cornfed's, pro, way, check available -- top-quality -- horsepower first. Try active speakers or active bi(multi?)-amping. My guess is you'll need an easy +110db delivering capacity in the full room so, check out the speakers' handlin...

Haven't heard the projected combo so, I guess that the ML could handle reasonable (i.e. not very LOUD)levels. Current is good and the 50W rating is, as above, conservative.Any way you can try the amp on yr speakers? Always the best test!
Clearaudio TTs good or bad
Bj: SME sounds good, I heard a V on a bigger C/audio deck. RB's are limited by the vta question -- but why a 600 instead of starting w/a 250, and upgrading later, to another brand if you wish. Just a thought...Cheers!
Anyone herad the Audio Physic Avanti 111's?
Hi. These are the III (i.e.3)? If so, yes, repeatedly. I like the sound and consider them world-class speakers. (Haven't read the reviews, though.) BUT, what exactly would you like to know? Room sizes varied, but they were OK in a smallish (c. 200...
Moral Dilemma
Lens: A telephoto. Because if I were to save him, he would get a grip on the longer, tele, lens. If again, I don't or cannot, I can get a better ("Pulitzer-prize") close-up. My spontaneous reaction would be to save him: a) I probably couldn't watc...

Probably. What speakers would the 11 be asked to drive?
What's the Least You Could Live With?
Detlof, you scared me for a minute -- until I saw yr 2nd post...My present set-up is not good enough (yet) to live with; should i just "right"-grade Joysjane's solution?Cheers
Clearaudio TTs good or bad
Hi Bj. The Glider sounded good on a solution/morch arm. The champion sounded good with a clearaudio victory/morch arm & a BPS, same arm. Sound: clear, fast, not necessarily lean; information retrieval is superior to "plusher" TTs (/older desig...
What Would you Trade your System FOR?
Sean's an engineer -- no wonder he's thorough! I'd like to live thru in Europe during the 30s in the music & art scene -- withOUT ww2. (Guess I'll stick to my system.)I too would trade the system in for a guarantee of "reasonable" world peace ...
How much power have you got under the hood?
Following on Bob above, don't exclude used items (Nads or similar, since you have chosen Nad) where you may get more hpower for the buck... Emphasis on "clean", rather than "raw", power. Distorted sound CAN damage speaker units even if it comes fr...
John Dunlavy On "Cable Nonsense"
Pbb, measurements, multiple testing, etc., probably are useful for manufacturers. For users -- i.e. most of us here -- Detlof's summarised it all IMO.Between you & I, how many of us can explain audible differences b/ween pieces of, say, active...
Is there anyone who came back from tubes to SS?
Back to original question. I moved fm tubes (Jadis) to ss (DNM), back to tubes (OTL -- Audio Exclusive), to my current ss (Symphonic Line Kraft).I listen mostly to classical, some blues, rock, & jazz added.Sound character-wise, I look for tube...
Buying used Cartriges
I second Sd's last suggestion very strongly. Other than the cartridge being 3rd hand (the seller would clarify) or the way it's been used, the way it's been mounted -- vta, azimuth, anti-skating, etc -- can age it prematurely... A friendly, in dep...
