Sakura Systems OTA Cable Kit
Bwhite, I will be able to compare Valhallas -- in about a month's time though! Love to hear others' experience. Mine is a ss or tube-ss (change b/ween the two now) set-up.
Question about a speakers sensitivity on its sound
You mention speed: speakers' efficiency does not necessarily mean speed. As to db, +6db in sound level is perceived twice as intense (all other things being equal)... 1db being the level of perception (or perceptible change in intensity) of a "nor...
Exchange Krell KAV-250a for a Pass Labs X-350?
Dale: r you sure the Krell is the culprit (if culprit there is)? Can you try another pre -- just for the experience (just a suggestion, pls don't go into sudden pre upgrade mode...:-)I personally like the Pass X better than the Krell KAVs -- but s...
Crosby, Stills & Nash Album Deju Vu
Abusing your hospitality, I suggest you hit the normal version. Don't know if audiophile is out -- in my book, who cares... My normal, eons old, LP sounds magnificent!Cheers!
Audio Aero Capitole vs. Audiomeca Enkianthus
Ray, Capitole, I say -- on account of natural timbres. For dynamics, the meca -- maybe. BUT I listen to classical that has dynamics anyway, however efficiently the sound engineers work on killing them!Cheers!
"I am there" vs. "They are here"
Hi David. My experience follows. Basic: a speaker capable of putting our ears and brain completely at ease with the sounds emanating -- that is, we make minimal to no effort to recognise and UNDERSTAND intricate musical detail... i.e. we're just "...
Cable shoot-out: Second summary
Interesting Tekunda, & thanks for posting experience. Can you repeat what equipment you're presently using & the music of choice?Cheers!
Is there a monitor speakers with just one driver?
Lowther drivers are full range -- but they need specially designed cabinets to work well.
What speaker to replace ESL 63?
Ditto above, Detlof & Jtinn. Also suggest you add Soundlab to your short-list. The 1 or 2, depending upon yr amps' driving power (the bigger ones are very expensive I beleive). Detlof would know more than I on how the SLs compare w/ Quads.Cheers!
Absolute Power Cords Whose heard them
I'm also using two sets of these (thanks D-K!) & can relate to Dekay's & Psychic's findings -- albeit on a totally different (full ss, now) system. However, here too, the "Absolute" is bettered by $+250 etc stuff. Also bettered by a home-g...
mmf 2.1 or pro-ject 1.2?
MMF is reportedly made of the same fundamental parts (platter, etc) as used in Pro-jects -- BUT in different combinations. I.e. on a MMF you may find a smaller pro-ject's platter, combined with the higher model's arm specs, etc.I heard a MMF vs. a...
My first impression of the Nordost Valhallas.
Tekunda: no, unfortunately! Mike, thanks, I'll check this out with dealers. I heard about the Siltech engineer setting up shop alone (i.e. not w/ Kharma) and purportedly calling his cables "Enigma", a few months ago. Sorry for the confusion, I sho...
Boulder 1060 - Amp for Life ??
Dan, I think you're asking 3 questions:1) Is there such a thing as an "amp for life"? Probably not, although you may end up keeping one -or more- for a long time (as Daniel above).2) If there is..., is the Boulder 1060 one of these amps?Only your ...
Grado Platinum: which is better high or lo output?
Lo output is slightly better IMO. Don't know yr Classe, but would be surprised if you can't get the loading, etc., right. Mara, above, also lists some good alternative cartridges...Cheers!
My first impression of the Nordost Valhallas.
Mike, "Mr." Enigma (don't remember his name) used to be a senior engineer @ Siltech. So, Enigmas are manufactured to specs similar, but allegedly not identical, to G5 Siltech.Cheers!
