Buying New TV Need A Soundbar Recommendation
That is easy Sennheiser Amebeo. Typically if you are patient you can get it for $1,999. Ok, let me explain. I had my last sound bar for over ten years. With Best Buy you can get 18 months same as cash. You will listen to this every day for years t...
Which DACs are known to be sweet/rich/relaxed?
I would recommend an Aurender W20SE streamer… giving you a spectacular and natural / quiet input. Then an Audio Research Reference DAC9 or Reference CD9se. I own the later and had a Berkeley Reference Alpha DAC in my system for several weeks… the ...
Why is used audio equipment so undesirable?
I always feel it appropriate that my dealer can make a living… so he has to make money. The margins are not as high for dealers as it used to be. Getting 20% would violate most agreements to be distributors and cause the dealer to lose rights to s...
How do you judge audio components and speakers?
@asadkhan890    🤪🤣
Large speaker recommendation
OP,   You are definitely doing the right thing. Sampling the character of speakers. I am always amazed at Wilson… they are tremendous speakers… yet, not for me.
What size power cable?
Looking at the construction of high end power cords… amp oriented tend to carry 10 gauge or probably more in some cases. Digital and low current have an emphasis on noise reduction using smaller gauge with elaborate layerings. But each company lik...
Disadvantages of buying old solid state.
While I hated the name of Schiit for some years… seriously masochisIc name. After a search for a friend of mine for a great budget DAC, I had to give up and buy a Schiit DAC (a Gungnir as an experiment)… then a Yggdrasil for my friend… then I boug...
I finally purchased a new Integrated Amp
OP, congratulations. I had some time to listen to their flagship M-900u for a few hours last weekend. Nice sound.
Best Home HIFi you’ve listened to
It is good to hear some folks think their system the best they have heard. It takes a lifelong commitment to do this. While, you could do it with infinite funds… but without going through the process (one which alters your perception of what a gre...
Disadvantages of buying old solid state.
Amps over time tend to loose their oomph… not fail. It is a very slow process of sonic degradation… unlikely something one would notice day by day. But put in a refurbished or new amp and the difference is striking.
Why is used audio equipment so undesirable?
When I was younger and had less money I bought used, from a dealer. As I got older and my purchases were much better thought out and expensive I would keep a component for ten to twenty years. For instance I bought a new Pass x350 and traded it in...
Disadvantages of buying old solid state.
First, on balanced versus unbalanced. Whenever this option comes up, you really have to try it to see if one is better than the other with your components.   For instance I have Audio Research equipment. ARC recommends the use of balanced interco...
Recommendation all-rounded speaker (small room)
OP,  “Is that considered break in?”   No you need one or two hundred hours of the woofers flapping back and forth to “loosen” them up and reduce the resistance to movement… they are stiff at first.
Best Phono Stage
@wolfie62  You should post photos of your system under your ID. It is very helpful in understanding where your opinion is coming from.
Large speaker recommendation
I guess I would say that more contemporary Sonus Faber are much more versatile without loosing their natural sound. My Sonus Faber Amati Traditional are in a room similar… but technically much bigger… and getting larger specs, ers has been strongly...
