Magnified Record Groove Photo
The fidelity gained from such an absurd mechanism is amazing. I am listening to an amazing vinyl recording right now… really amazing.
finding the weak link
Congratulations… sounds like you are in for a treat!
Can a DAC sort out a flat\cold amp?
OP, please do not feel self conscious about the state of your room. Most of us constantly have rooms in a state of flux.   The photo is incredibly revealing… sonically. First, move the PC away from the integrated. PCs are really noisy and you ca...
Looking for a change.

Best Phono Stage
@4krowme I definitely get it. When I got my first good table I tried a top rated $200 Phonostage. It sounded terrible. So at each iteration I doubled the cost. It wasn’t until $2,500+ I started getting much of the sound quality my system was cap...
Can a DAC sort out a flat\cold amp?
I doubt it is the amp. I would recommend a separate streamer… Bluesound sell budget streamers that are very well regarded and sounds like it would be in your budget.   I have never had luck treating symptoms (equalizer). I recommend going for th...
Naim NDX 2 vs Aurender or better than these Audio streamers
I have only heard the Naim streamer once, and I wasn’t really paying attention. But I own two Aurender: N100 and W20SE. Aurender only does streamers and there flagship is the most used in the industry at shows. During my research phase Naim never ...
Looking for a change.
I used to own a set of those. The classic combo is with Audio Research… like a Vsi75 or a Ref 75se amp. These would sound very different from what have now, rendering more realistically with mid range bloom and fleshed out nuance in the bass.. Tub...
Which DACs are known to be sweet/rich/relaxed?
Good to hear some other folks own an Audio Research Ref CD9se… an incredible DAC that gets the details and nuances in order with exceptional balance and musicality.   Mine has really profoundly influenced the sound quality of my system in all th...
Streamer on Office WiFi?
@fuzztone    I completely agree if it was at home. But the workplace is different. I have been in charge of IT as Director for decades.  I would just call your IT guys. Enterprise security is different than home stuff. They tend to be really he...
Balanced versus single ended
@runwell    Thanks for the clarification. I guess this is where it comes down to what equipment you own. Mine does not sound bigger.
Speakers for Second System
I have a second system. For that I chose speakers that are just pleasing: Totem. I found that being a complete fanatic about my main system and headphone system that as a secondary system I could get something that sounds great… fun and musical. I...
Which DACs are known to be sweet/rich/relaxed?
I think 5% sounding bad is a symptom that all recordings are being reproduced sub optimally. At least in my experience, as I shifted the overall balance such that the emphasis of different parts of the audio spectrum came in line, then all recordi...
Replacing cork platter mat with acrylic mat
OP, I’m not sure. But my audio guy (who is the only one to adjust my LInn LP12) was explaining what one and two playing card thickness would do to change the sound. I am constantly amazed at what precision is involved in making a turntable and ca...
Replacing cork platter mat with acrylic mat
Is there a small difference in the thickness of the mat? It only takes a small difference in thickness to impact the setup.
