Why not?
Audio companies don't want to increase prices of their units with 'better cables' that may or may not work with their systems. So, they leave it to owners to decide what they like/want. That is the reason. (And, yes, I asked them). B
We Can Make Classic Cars Outperform Today's "SuperCars": Why Not Vintage Audio?
@waytoomuchstuff , Just because an older method can outperform newer ones doesn't address other factors that might be at play. Sure, older models might smoke the newer, but at what cost? Ride quality, emissions, fuel consumption, etc.? Asking ...
Diagonal seating?
I tend to not be so anal about seating and positioning, but then I use speakers that are somewhat forgiving as they are time and phase aligned. Duke Elliington said: 'If it sounds good, it is good'. So, if your 'distracted' listening moments so...
purchasing used Ayre V-5xe? good purchase?
In my opinion, anything from Ayre is a quality product that will be serviced whether you are the original owner or second or third. And, anything with the Diamond circuit is killer. I own the MX-R/KX-R (non Twenty) and find them to be very capabl...
Do older power cables still hold up to newer ones?
+1 on your nice equipment. I will preface with the fact that I never thought cables would affect sound reproduction in a meaningful way... However, when I demoed the new (then) Audioquest cables, I had to admit that, yes cables do make a differe...
Has anyone tried the latest firmware update (August 2022) for the Schiit Audio Bifrost 2?
Generally, if a manufacturer offers a firmware upgrade, it probably improves on the sound quality or performance of the unit. -And, after owning a lot of Schiit DAC's, I would just go ahead and update the firmware. bob
I think I just smoked my Amp
The schematic shows two fuses. Most likely, one is at the power cord, the second is probably a rail fuse- which is located inside the amp. I am with Ralph on this,  one or both fuses may have blown. Just try replacing them. (Of course, you can lo...
Audio people you've had contact with that proved to be good people.
Ralph Karsten, Steve McCormack/Pat at SMcAudio, Richard Vandersteen, Ariel and Ryan at Ayre have been outstanding designers that stand by their equipment. And, though he isn't a designer, Johnny Rutan at Audioconnection, who made me like dealing...
What's up with the verification?
After 4 days of clicking on buses and lions, I finally am able to logon to Audiogon. If this continues, I think I'll just move on to other forums. B
What's up with the verification?
I posted a similar thread. One day I can connect easily, another day, it takes multiple attempts to get to the login page. This is quite unacceptable, and if it keeps up, I will abandon Audiogon. Bob
Single vs Bi-wire Speaker Cable
I would PM member ctsooner. He owns the WT Silvers and probably auditioned the Robin Hoods, too. And, much depends upon the speakers/equipment you are using. My own experience is with Vandersteen speakers. When I heard the William Tell's, I was...
Help me choice Audioquest speaker cables
PM member ctsooner. I believe he auditioned them. B
Help me choice Audioquest speaker cables
+2 for for listening to your dealer. Bob
Why is Audiogon checking my browser?
@facten    I posted the thread because I was not sure if I was the only one having this problem.
Beware of scam listings - users now have positive feedback.
@sbank , Good point. I know Audiogon wants to keep things on their site, but sometimes buyers/sellers need to contact each other directly. B
