Intona filter shortest USB connection
I just acquired an Intona filter for my USB line. My setup already has an ENO ethernet filter connected at the Zen LAN input.    And is this possibly overkill or even detrimental?   You seem to be adding quite a bit of filtering to your syst...
Floorstanding speaker advice needed for long room
Do not overlook the Vandersteen VLR's. They are made to be placed in a bookshelf. With the right power, they can really fill a room, esp. with a sub. They also work on stands. They look like a basic bookshelf speaker, but out perform many speakers...
Can someone help me pick out my first speakers?
My 2 cents- Audition as many speakers you can access. I know B&M stores aren't as plentiful as when I started, but you need to learn what you like/love.  Yes, it will take time, but you will not waste time/money on speakers that don't work w...
Electrostatic Speakers Vs. Horn/component Tweeter
Since I’m used to damaged speakers being blown, I’m wondering if these can be partially degraded without being destroyed, or if damaged electrostatic speakers are about as clear as regular speakers when they’ve been damaged.   Hmm, interesting...
Basic Roon Question
I use the Zen Mini with Roon and have no issues with either performance or sound quality. Roon is worth the subscription price, IMHO. And, no, you don't need a Roon Core to play Qobuz with a Roon capable streamer (like the Innuos). I have local f...
Who Offers a Highly Musical Preamp using a 6SN7 tube and a remote?
Atmosphere UV -1 ( reviewer found it grainy ) I own one, and 'grainy' isn't a trait I would ascribe to it, in the least. Quite the contrary. To my ears, it outperforms many preamps, even ones that are higher priced. Bob
would I benefit getting a balanced amp (BAT 55se) - given my pre-amp is RCA output
Yup, the wrong AES. Here is an article elucidating the standard- https://www.ranecommercial.com/kb_article.php?article=2107 Or, just PM Ralph Karsten (atmasphere), to get it from the best authority. Bob
Atma-Sphere Class D… Amazing
@avanti1960 , Your post doesn't provide enough information. What equipment was your friend using? What did he/she find unacceptable? Inquiring minds want to know. B
Fixing Wall Shudder
Since you don't want to tear down walls, (and I can sympathize), your easiest solution is to add an additional layer of sheetrock, and perhaps sandwich a sound dampening layer. Bob
would I benefit getting a balanced amp (BAT 55se) - given my pre-amp is RCA output
If you ever do go to balanced outputs, make sure your equipment is following the AES standards. Many manufacturers add XLR input/outputs on their equipment, but some do not follow the AES standard-in which case, you don't fully get benefits of usi...
Atma-Sphere Class D… Amazing
Well, Ralph has outdone himself and shipped my new Atma Class D amps (with black face plates) sooner than thought. As I am in the middle of putting all my gardens to bed and hopefully overwintering the non hardy material, I have to put their insta...
Problem on listing
Just ask for Tammy. She'll get it sorted out. B
Is there such a thing as a FOREVER DAC/streamer?
@gpixels , As your DAC is inside of your integrated amp, you won't be able to upgrade, unless Hegel introduces new firmware. As DAC and streaming tech is moving at a rapid pace, I have no doubt that much of what is now 'state of the art' will be...
BluSound Node and Node 2
I owned the Node (original one), and it worked well. Customer service can be a bit sketchy, but if you are patient, they will come through-albeit sometimes with a considerable wait time. Is Bluesound perfect, no. Is Bluesound a good value for wh...
Compatibility between speakers and sub.
My recommendation are the Vandersteen subs. They use an external crossover between the amp and preamp. When the crossover is dialed in, you are basically plug and play.(Unless you get the new Sub 3's which have a graphic equalizer that needs to be...
