@stevenyc,Johnny is the best dealer I have ever known. Hands Down!Bob
Parasound service problems
It still begs the question:Why didn't they answer their emails in the first place?B
Need Help
Since you are starting out, and don't know what speaker you like, I would recommend going to as many dealers as you can.Just listen. Eventually, you'll find a speaker that 'sounds right' to your ears. Don't be afraid to audition above your budget....
Vandersteen VLR CT
@peterclemens,As a whole Agon'ers behave well, esp. Vandy Threads😉.Just don't mention fuses, or cables...Bob
MBL 101 (~1990) - amp suggestions.
@OP,I have been dying to hear MBL for years.And, from what Tomic told me: A Great choice.( And this is from a Vandy guy).Bob
Vandersteen VLR CT
@peter,Thanks for posting and I am glad you love the VLR's.I own the non-CT's, butI never thought they would sound as good as the other Vandy models, but Mr. V. seems to always make great speakers at a great price.Bob
McCormack TLC1 --> ??? @ Redone Magnepan MG1
The nice thing about McCormack is that you can send it to SMcAudio for an upgrade.I had them convert my DNA-1's to monoblocks, in addition to other upgrades.They also wanted to know my speakers in order to make an upgrade that fit.I know Maggy's c...
Basic cable question
Truth be told:I fell into the Transparent void early into my reintroduction to hifi after 30+ years.Here is what I learned-Cables are very system dependent. What works in one system might not in another.Since I don't know what equipment you are us...
Bad experience with Bluesound Soundbar's

Bad experience with Bluesound Soundbar's
Sorry to hear this. I bought their Nodes used and they provided decent help- not stellar- but decent/good.I am pretty sure none of the earlier models supported Dual Band Wifi.(In fact, I had to get a Netgear router to achieve a 5ghz network capabi...
Vandersteen Model 1 or Focal 726
+3 for adding a sub (or 2).You'll be getting even better bass than a 3.And, you will retain the small footprint of the 1's and have the ability to move the subs to where they can fit/work best.Bob
HAVE ALL SALES STOPPED ON AUDIOGON ???
@stereo5 ,That sound like the same guy who was selling a pair of Vandy's a few years ago. They, too, took years to sell. ( and, a custom paint job, too).B
Site is hacked
I use Google Chrome with Adblocker and never have an issue with pop ups.B
Question about hum from speakers
Since no one has said so, I would contact SMc Audio directly.Pat or Steve (McCormack) can give you the best information. If necessary, they can either repair or upgrade the amp. They can also tell you if the seller sold you a defective amp.B
speaker cable for ML Impression
Nice speakers.I would consider Audioquest. They make a slew of different products in a variety of budget ranges.I would contact John Rutan at Audioconnection (he is here on Agon and that is his member name, if you want to PM).He knows AQ, as well ...
