Any Magnepan Mini Maggies fans here I own both HSU and Vandersteen. The Vandy's are a much better sub and integrate seemlessly, but are much more expensive. The HSU take a bit more tweaking, but can offer a decent option for a lot less. And, they are well built.Bob
From ZERO to Hero? Though I bought a pair of Autoformers, I haven't yet installed them.I got them because designers like Steve McCormack said they made things sound better regardless of the speakers impedance load. So, why haven't I installed them? Too many things to...
Tongan Labs F6 vs Zu Audio Omen Dirty Weekend Mk.II I agree with your assessment of Zu speakers.I owned a pair of Union and Omen Bookshelves. They were very capable, but lacked a certain refinement that my Vandy's provide (Treo's and VLR).I think they are very good at their price point, and that is...
amp to buy? is it more important to have a high quality amp or DAC? As DAC technology is improving almost by the day, I would opt for a high quality amp and get a 'very good' DAC, preferably one that can be upgraded.I use Ayre Codex, but Schiit makes a G...
Aesthetix system – with or without a line stage? I would take your dealer's advice.Bob
AQ vs Van Den Hul @mkash3 ,You can always call AQ and ask them for their opinion. Heck, even call VDH and see if they sell B&W their cables.Bob
Buy a $40,000 10 year old amp for $4,000 or new amp for same money? Hi,from 40k to 4k in 10 years time something is not right. Well, think of Wilson Speakers...B
Atma-Sphere, Ralph Karsten I own the basic MA-1's and an MP-3 and have no issues with sound reproduction. I am thinking of upgrading to the MP-1.(Though, I am trying to find an Ayre KXR, too, to go with my MXR's).To be honest, I really don't get too caught up with trying to...
Speaker info It seem they should work, from my experience, but the proof is in the listening. You said you have already moved them. Have you listened to them in the smaller room?Bob
Small Floorstander? Vandersteen 1ci's come to mind.Unfortunately, a small/light speaker will always be a bit on the 'bass shy' side as it is more a part of physics.Bob
It is balanced or not? @joser,That was Ralph (Atmasphere).B
Atma-Sphere, Ralph Karsten @o_holter ,Yes, I did try some Zu Union speakers, but they were not as good as the Vandy's-IMHO.I did speak to Ralph when I bought the amps and he thought they are a good match. Even Richard Vandersteen said his speakers sounded better being run w...
It is balanced or not? Sounds like an Atmasphere question to me...Sorry, OP, but I am not an expert on wiring, but Ralph would be one of the people who give you the correct answer.Bob
Dealers and exaggerated treble @erik_squires , - How many consumers of high end gear are easily duped by it. I think a large chunk of those with disposable wealth will be victims of dealer deceit, but mostly from their belief that paying more equates with getting the 'best'- ...
Atma-Sphere, Ralph Karsten @pstores ,I run the Vandy Treo's with MA-1's, too. Vandy's aren't so inefficient as to the point of taxing an amp to clip or distort.I probably could have gotten by with a pair of M60's, given that I don't listen to music loudly.@o_holter ,I know ... |
