Why the fascination with subwoofers?
@mitch2 ,I am glad you are considering the Vandy subs.To me, they are the best way to add lower frequencies to a speaker- A simple 1st order crossover that eliminates frequency overlap and allows you amp to function at peak performance.Once I sell...
I wan't the best in this price range
I have tried Zu Union's (earlier than the Souls) and Omen Bookshelves.Both were close, but never as good as Vandersteens.I thought having a non-crossover design might be a positive, but found the time and phase aligned speaker to be much more desi...
Advice for Neophyte Assembling a System
@OP, It looks like Audio Concepts is in Dallas is a Vandy Dealer. Have you checked them? If you have, and found them unhelpful, I would call Richard Vandersteen directly. Leave a message and he will call the next day. Trust me.Second, fabric shade...
Advice for Neophyte Assembling a System
If you like Sabrina's then you should like Vandersteen.Unlike Wilson, Vandersteen's are time and phase aligned and are very easy to drive.The Pass amp mentioned offers a lot more power than conventional amps-Mr. Pass usually underrates them.Wilson...
Organic, musical and natural sounding speakers up to $12K
Vandy Quatro's would be my first suggestion.-They always perform above their price point.If you want big sound, then electrostatics would be another choice.Magnepan and Soundlabs.Bob
Vandersteen Treo CT
@stevenyc,Johnny is the best dealer I have ever known. Hands Down!Bob
Parasound service problems
It still begs the question:Why didn't they answer their emails in the first place?B
Need Help
Since you are starting out, and don't know what speaker you like, I would recommend going to as many dealers as you can.Just listen. Eventually, you'll find a speaker that 'sounds right' to your ears. Don't be afraid to audition above your budget....
Vandersteen VLR CT
@peterclemens,As a whole Agon'ers behave well, esp. Vandy Threads😉.Just don't mention fuses, or cables...Bob
MBL 101 (~1990) - amp suggestions.
@OP,I have been dying to hear MBL for years.And, from what Tomic told me: A Great choice.( And this is from a Vandy guy).Bob
Vandersteen VLR CT
@peter,Thanks for posting and I am glad you love the VLR's.I own the non-CT's, butI never thought they would sound as good as the other Vandy models, but Mr. V. seems to always make great speakers at a great price.Bob
McCormack TLC1 --> ??? @ Redone Magnepan MG1
The nice thing about McCormack is that you can send it to SMcAudio for an upgrade.I had them convert my DNA-1's to monoblocks, in addition to other upgrades.They also wanted to know my speakers in order to make an upgrade that fit.I know Maggy's c...
Basic cable question
Truth be told:I fell into the Transparent void early into my reintroduction to hifi after 30+ years.Here is what I learned-Cables are very system dependent. What works in one system might not in another.Since I don't know what equipment you are us...
Bad experience with Bluesound Soundbar's
I never had to resort to say I would be posting my experience to have Bluesound offer the Teamviewer response.I was simply having issues with connectivity that I eventually found out was caused by my Watchguard Router. Bluesound, though not the fa...
