What are the limits of room correction/ treatments ? YES! Room treatment fist, EQ/Room correction second. GIK Acoustics, great advice and highest value products. Room treament enables EQ, especially in the bass. Best,Erik
power conditioner @lostbears I can understand your confusion. Unfortunately almost NO power conditioner helps ground hum. Please see my blog here: http://pqltd.blogspot.com/2016/11/quick-safe-and-easy-fixes-for-ground.htmlFurman makes an excellent product, and prot...
Norah Jones @garebear I think that’s Perl Jam or Phish
Don't think my preamp likes feeding signal to two seperate places. I'd suggest passive. No noise, adds ground isolation. :) Best,Erik
Conrad Johnson Repair Issues I do not know who was at fault, I truly do not, but I would expect if I shipped a product, insured, and it arrived damaged that the receiver would be obligated to notify me BEFORE doing work on it. But again, I have no idea in what order things oc...
2.0 Stereo speakers on a $2000 budget? Custom makers will build you incredible speakers for that amount. :) Are you looking for floor standers or bookshelf or standmounts?
Hearing aid advice & suggestions? Do a search and you'll find some threads that cover this topic already. If it was just her, I'd suggest you consider a digital EQ, or if she primarily listened with headphones. Best,Erik
Grounding Metal Outlet Boxes and Isolated Ground Receptacles And please dear god tell me you've paid this much attention to your room acoustics???
Grounding Metal Outlet Boxes and Isolated Ground Receptacles No, you won't have ground loops... it's just a little um, pointless. :) So by NEC you must run a dedicated ground from your panel all the way to the box where your outlets are, and ground the outlet AND The box there. This is to ensure if a short ...
Cheater plug safety Arcticdeth, One benefit MIGHT be if you got a shielded power cable. Even if you don't connect the ground at the amp side, the shield will reduce RFI noise. AND yes, use a good surge protector. :) Best,Erik
Frequency response to 100k +/_ 1.5db? More than a little ridiculous. :) More importantly to me would be energy storage and releasing. I'm a big fan of very good AMT's (as opposed to just average one's) for this reason. :) Best,Erik
Link for acoustical treatments +1 on GIK for advice, cost effectiveness and price. OK, so that's +3. :)
Cheater plug safety GB, You haven’t had a problem because fortunately equipment is reliable, but you are defeating a built in fail-safe. Please don’t do it and don’t suggest it to others. It's like the guy who never wears a seat belt, because hes' never had a problem ...
Acoustic Preference Maestroso 1.0 or B & W 805D?? Never heard either, but know some of the parts and similar. There’s a B&W house sound that I’m not a fan, nor am I a big fan of any of their tweeters since the nautilus series began. I particularly dislike them for movies. However if you LIKE ...
Room treatment-I was afraid of this I kind of don't care about cables at all. :) However, one thing is that great acoustic treatments will often outlast all your other gear. You can listen to a much wider range of speakers for instance, so things you might previously not have tried... |
