Multi format playback: DAC w/ DVD-A capability? Rip to HDD? Just get an Oppo?
Hi!First, depends how you are buying. I buy most of my music as downloads in 24/96kHz. So, of course, it goes to a hard disk. Occasionally I buy CD's as well, and I rip those too, and that's fairly painless for me with MediaMonkey. If you are reall...
Any News on MQA Lately?
@ejr1953  If PS Audio wanted to I'm pretty sure they could implement it purely as a software solution for you as could Chord.
Focal 1037BE; All-Rounders Extraordinaire!
@klipschking In the end that's all that matters! My point was, if you hear a difference in a Focal speaker it's probably not due to part spend in the crossover. :) They're all quite frugal. Best,Erik

One thing that I should point out to anyone comparing MQA, is that to do it right re-mastering is required. Meaning you have to work your way back to the original multi-track digital files before you can produce a 2 channel MQA product. Becnhmark ...
Infinity kappa 9 ebay crossover
I think to Tim's point, if you get into an Infinity it is not worth it to try and replace parts here and there. They need a modern crossover re-think. Whether you purchase from some one who has done the work for you, or do it yourself, a white pap...
Focal 1037BE; All-Rounders Extraordinaire!
While I'm glad you enjoy your Focal's, the one thing I've never seen them do is spend much on the crossover. I have seen them do all sorts of tricks in the crossovers, but spend much? Nope.

Hi @ptss HDCD is the perfect analogy. HDCD is a pretty complicated format as well. Microsoft bought HDCD but then did nothing at all with it. It's a shame because I would love to have a software scanner to go through all my FLAC files, and decode ...
Input ground loop hum only when p10 cables or XLR without phantom power are connected
@cleeds I was being a little severe, but I still think it's wrong. If you are testing a device which is often connected to a source of noise, such as a laptop with charger, you should test with that noise, not do everything you can to eliminate it...
Input ground loop hum only when p10 cables or XLR without phantom power are connected
Hey pedro! You may need to get the extra power supply for it if your laptop does not provide a high-current port. Just FYI.Best,Erik

Good luck, and let me know how it works for you.Best,Erik
Input ground loop hum only when p10 cables or XLR without phantom power are connected
In fact, most of the time, ground loops are independent of cables (unless wired wrong). A ground loop can't be fixed by noise filters or switching cables, or better shielding. You have to break the metallic contact in the loop. Best,Erik
Input ground loop hum only when p10 cables or XLR without phantom power are connected
Yep, switching USB cables alone will not help you. There is a known problem with laptop power supplies and ground loops.  I can't answer your questions because I'm pretty confused and don't know all the details. However, the easiest, and least lik...
Input ground loop hum only when p10 cables or XLR without phantom power are connected
One quick thing to check is unplug your USB input and see if the problem goes away. If so, you'll need the USB isolator from my blog page, or one like it. Best,Erik
Input ground loop hum only when p10 cables or XLR without phantom power are connected
So what is your output? How do you hear the hum? Headphones? Speakers? So on your inputs.... if you use ONLY XLR to XLR cables,  you get a hum?? Or do they have to be connected to an instrument or mic? Best,Erik

Let me know if the ideas on that blog post don't help you. :)
