Is this a phase issue? How to fix? If it is CONSISTENTLY poor through the bass it’s a polarity issue. If on the other hand, you see rippling of the frequency response at your seated position this kind of thing can happen because of different path lengths from the speakers to the mi...
Cheater plug safety The issue with the safety ground vs interconnects can be summed up this way: 12 gauge vs. 22 gauge. Safety grounds must carry the full line current in order to trip the breakers safely. This could melt an interconnect ground, possibly explosively,...
How to find a designer for a listening room? I would try the ASC or GIK websites. Look in their "dealer" sections, if any. Those are usually integrators/installers/designersl. http://www.acousticsciences.com/dealersBest,Erik
Help w/ Martin Logan setup! Reliable in the sense of handling all speakers well, no . Warm to neutral, low noise, stays out of the way of the music.
Help w/ Martin Logan setup! +1 on the Parasound suggestion. I used to run a pair of A23's for a 4.0 setup, and they were wonderful. Then I went to 5.1 and it all went to pot. :-) I'm just kidding, I ended up with some very nice class D monoblocks. If you are tight for space...
Stereophile & Mytek Brooklyn - Better than it Measures I'd rather stick with what I'm using, also cheap, but i may put a very nice 0.1uF film cap across the ends. :) My version of the Astron has a voltage dial, so I'm all set so long as no one changes it. :) Best,Erik
Stereophile and the JL Fathom F212v2 I guess I should have pointed out for the buyers, there’s no 1 agreed upon target curve. So while room correction is a great thing, the different choices made by each sub or receiver maker matters a great deal. I will even risk my life by saying i...
An all Parasound system - Good idea? The integrated, according to Parasound's website: http://www.parasound.com/hint.phpis NOT designed by JC. They state "Power amp circuit topology designed by legendary John Curl." Meaning, they took what JC did for other amps and adapted it.Still ...
NEED HELP WITH DAC UPGRADE Forgot to mention, I think, having trouble reading my own writing...I think there's a dealer on AG who sells Mytek gear with 30 day trials.
An all Parasound system - Good idea? I am a Parasound fan, so I think that's a pretty good combo. The smaller A23 also sounds really nice and warm. I can't think of any amps in the price range which are better. Best,Erik
High end vintage vs contemporary DAC's - are sonic improvements real? Well, I wouldn't say there's been no improvements. One thing I've noticed with the latest batch of DAC's (Schiit, Mytek) is they handle Redbook tons better than older DAC's. The difference between 44/16 and 96/24 to my ears has all but disappeared...
Digital media server/players for a Skeptic? I built my own music server out of a mini PC with Xubuntu and Logitech Media Server. It’s great for Internet radio and my ripped music. For Tidal I like to use my Oppo 103 though, it has a nicer interface. Total cost for a 2TB server was around $6...
B&W 800D2 twitter Start with B&W directly. I may not like their designs, but their customer service is beyond reproach.
I think I need more bass traps, where to place them?? I'd ask GIK For advice. :) But soffit traps ton't have to be exactly in the corners to work. With museum hangars, you may even be able to use the crown moldings to hang the traps from. They're like S hooks which slide above the moulding. Depends ...
Should I upgrade my integrated amplifier to a Parasound integrated A23? The Parasound integrated (Halo Integrated) or the non-integrated stereo A23 are both very nice sounding and stiff sounding amps. They are quite neutral though, perhaps a smidge warm. Both very good deals. Best,Erik |
