Grounding Metal Outlet Boxes and Isolated Ground Receptacles No, you won't have ground loops... it's just a little um, pointless. :) So by NEC you must run a dedicated ground from your panel all the way to the box where your outlets are, and ground the outlet AND The box there. This is to ensure if a short ...
Cheater plug safety Arcticdeth, One benefit MIGHT be if you got a shielded power cable. Even if you don't connect the ground at the amp side, the shield will reduce RFI noise. AND yes, use a good surge protector. :) Best,Erik
Frequency response to 100k +/_ 1.5db? More than a little ridiculous. :) More importantly to me would be energy storage and releasing. I'm a big fan of very good AMT's (as opposed to just average one's) for this reason. :) Best,Erik
Link for acoustical treatments +1 on GIK for advice, cost effectiveness and price. OK, so that's +3. :)
Cheater plug safety GB, You haven’t had a problem because fortunately equipment is reliable, but you are defeating a built in fail-safe. Please don’t do it and don’t suggest it to others. It's like the guy who never wears a seat belt, because hes' never had a problem ...
Acoustic Preference Maestroso 1.0 or B & W 805D?? Never heard either, but know some of the parts and similar. There’s a B&W house sound that I’m not a fan, nor am I a big fan of any of their tweeters since the nautilus series began. I particularly dislike them for movies. However if you LIKE ...
Room treatment-I was afraid of this I kind of don't care about cables at all. :) However, one thing is that great acoustic treatments will often outlast all your other gear. You can listen to a much wider range of speakers for instance, so things you might previously not have tried...
Can you leave class D amps on and not ever turn them off? If you want. SOme audiophiles leave class A/B amps on all the time, even though they are much more power hungry when idling. I have a pair of ICEPower 250 amps which idle around 14W totall. It helps to have a reliable surge protector though in cas...
Conrad Johnson Repair Issues Scratches CJ Off my list no matter what. They should never have accepted it to begin with, or notified you at the very start of the process, not afterwards. Also sounds like they overcharged you for a capacitor replacement. Well, I'm a long ways f...
Cheater plug safety Only a qualified tech should attempt this, but it appears possible that the signal uses a floating ground and that the chassis and power supply ground are not bonded together. If this is true, then I would recommend: Use standard 3 pin plugUse shi...
Don't think my preamp likes feeding signal to two seperate places. I see. Yep, an impedance doulber or quadrupler would do it for you. :)
Don't think my preamp likes feeding signal to two seperate places. Easiest/cheapest solution is to get an impedance multiplier for the crossover. Just making sure. You use 2 RCA cables to go from the ARC right? if you use a Y splitter to combine them before the crossover, that would be bad. :) Best,Erik
Cheater plug safety I think I see the issue. :) Nominally 15A receptacles can do 20A... I know it’s weird. :) The issue is the socket vs. the current capacity. The straight pin sockets are not designed to accept 20A plugs, but ARE designed to be connected to a 20A ci...
power conditioner I like to use Furman units with LiFT and SMS. I do find they add warmth and clean/quiet mid to treble. I miss them when disconnected.More importantly is having consistent performance 24/7. I rely on the Furman’s to provide bullet-proof surge prote...
Don't think my preamp likes feeding signal to two seperate places. I am a little confused. Where does the signal get split? Is your preamp feeding ONLY the crossover? Or is it feeding an amp AND the crossover? Best,Erik |
