Looking for ideas - new mono blocks for stereo music Listen to Ayre and Pass as diametrically opposed sounds in my opinion.
One DAC/integrated you could be happy with forever? I think the issue may be overhyped somewhat. As I recall, it only occurs when upsampling, and is a problem easily corrected in code.
One DAC/integrated you could be happy with forever? PS - The article claims publication in 2017, but I know I have read it from Benchmark long before then.
One DAC/integrated you could be happy with forever? Well, I have to say, interestingly, and perhaps coincidentally, that since that article came out, DAC's have gotten MUCH better at playing redbook. You can find this in several of my posts, I"ve been saying this for years. So, if it was a problem ...
The most fun you can have in audio is DIYing your own speakers Here is my DIY ode, the SNR-1. High end? $500 tweeters. https://speakermakersjourney.blogspot.com/2017/12/snr-1-two-way-high-end-diy-monitor.htmlCost to make, including custom cabinets: ~ $3k
Mytek slams Hypex in Stereophile Amp Review I also have not (knowingly) heard a Pascal based amp either. Anyone who wishes to send me a pair for evaluation... :) There are definitely some fans of those modules too. Best,E
Mytek slams Hypex in Stereophile Amp Review Nugat, They definitely did make a big deal of the quality of the phonograph stage. :) I have heard good things about it, but I have cats. :) The NAD I listen to has Hypex derived circuits. I like it, but I can't say I can tell it's better or worse...
Ethernet over power line adaptor Why not just run wifi?
Mytek slams Hypex in Stereophile Amp Review I’ve had several audiophiles listen to my system. No one ever said "Gosh that sounds like class D"If they don’t know what is driving them they just sound like really good amplifiers, with the usual issues of amp to speaker and component matching. ...
Mytek slams Hypex in Stereophile Amp Review From a couple of manufacturers I am familiar with (B&O and Hypex), the modules offer two inputs. One fully buffered, and the other low impedance. The unbuffered and low impedance input allows the opportunity for OEM’s to make their own input s...
Micro SD Cards You could do it either way, the issue of music transfer often comes down to speed.
Speakers for aging audiophiles - What's with today bass emphasis ? The professional answer is to use bass traps (including helmholtz resonators) in addition to EQ. I find GIK Acoustic’s Soffit Traps exceedingly helpful. Good treatment in the bass can make speakers sound tighter and bigger. Specially tuned resonat...
New Dolby Atmos processor. Poor sound quality d2girls - Auto room correction varies a great deal in quality. For the best results you need to take multiple measurements so you get a good average. Bass modes in particular are poorly treated by an eq with a single mic reading. For this, you ne...
Not enough power what does it sound like? When you hear of a speaker being "discerning" of amplifiers, it often means that it is difficult to drive , usually in the bass region. These speakers prefer low output impedance amps. Rated power at 8 Ohms won't necessarily tell you this. Best,E
AV Pre/Processor vs 2 Channel Pre-Amp - Sound Quality I don't think it's a matter of money, but I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you saying you'd use the 2 channel pre for music? And, depends. Some AV pro's I've heard (Onkyo/Emotiva) sound really thin, so I really wouldn't listen to them as musi... |
